Very eye catching Easy to keep clean Great fit Like the bag and de-mister. Hopefully last a long time. Went for Shoei for safety reasons as been great in the past.
Staff at Abbeywood were very knowledgeable and I knew straight away this was right for me. Great look and fit to the Glamster, the only thing I miss is a drop down sun shield. Definitely prefer the double D strap to the ratchet on my other Shoei. Very happy to have 2 great Shoei helmets to cope with any conditions and rides
Over the years I have owned a number of Shoei helmets, all,of which have been excellent quality but this one is in a league of its own. On opening the box the finish was the first thing I noticed, no stickerslacquered over, it was seem less. The light weight as I lifted it out and tried it on, and the fit was perfect. It just fits perfectly, no pressure points just a perfectly snug fit. The vision from the wide and deep visor is excellent and with the supplied pin lock visor it remains clear. My first outing whilst wearing it was 140 miles in the rain. There were no leaks around the visor which snaps shut with and easy to use slide button on the left and the venting was just right, no cold spots but no hot spots either. I know it's expensive but it's definitely worth it.
It's a great looking helmet, stunning in the gloss black, fit and finish is usual Shoei throughout.
BUT, and it's a big but… it is so so noisy! Even with earplugs in, anything above 50 to 60mph and this helmet is unusable due to wind noise. Which is such a shame as it's rendered useless unless you're just tootling around cities or don't value your hearing.
I was looking for a more retro style of helmet for riding around on my Triumph this coming year and this certainly fits the bill. I bought a medium for my 58 size head and the fit is as expected (like other Shoei models). I noticed that the level of padding was less than previous helmets and during the first few commuting runs the noisy level was higher than expected, so ear plugs are needed. It's a great looking helmet (IMHO), vision is excellent as is the finish, but I don't think it will be used for planned tours.
Although I've only worn this a couple of times on freezing short rides (the joys of buying a new lid in the depths of winter!), I've been really impressed with it.
I was slightly worried that this would be a style over substance lid. Having worn it a few times now, I can say that is not the case (although it does look "cool", if you like that sort of thing).
My previous lid was a shoei NXR which was great, but when I had my mid life crisis and bought a harley, I needed something that looked cool, which is where this came in.
In terms of fit, it's the same sort of fit as my NXR, but it's actually lighter. Although not quite as quiet as the NXR, it's not far off and I wear ear plugs anyway.
In summary, great lightweight lid that's a lot better than the "cool" looks would suggest.

The Shoei Glamster is a member of Shoei's neo-classic series, it's a full visor helmet with a genuine vintage touch, without sacrificing the comfort and safety of a modern helmet. In an extremely compact shell you will find all the features you would expect from a genuine Shoei.
By the time a Shoei helmet leaves the factory in Ibaraki, Japan, it will have gone through at least 50 pairs of hands during its creation. Shoei prides itself on making helmets by hand, and that's one of the reasons why the brand is so highly regarded by motorcyclists all over the world. Shoei made its first motorcycle helmet back in 1960 and has been responsible for a host of world-firsts as it's become one of the world's foremost helmet manufacturers. It created its first helmet with a carbon-fibre shell as long ago as 1976 and can claim to be the first company to develop chin skirting, integrated visor mountings and controllable air intakes to keep riders cool. The range covers everything from sleek urban helmets through to the most advanced racing protection on the planet. Shoei's racing pedigree goes way back to the legendary era of two-stroke Grand Prix warriors like Wayne Gardner, Eddie Lawson and Wayne Rainey. The influence continues today with multiple world champion Marc Marquez wearing Shoei throughout his glory-filled career. When you see the Shoei badge, it's more than a brand. It is a stamp of premium quality.
