Alpinestars' popular waterproof textile jacket has one very clever trick under its sleeves...
Customers commend the Alpinestars Andes V3 Drystar jacket for its excellent waterproof and windproof qualities, keeping them dry and warm even in heavy rain. Many note its comfort, snug fit, and ease of adjustments. Despite some concerns about sizing, the jacket generally meets expectations for quality and durability. It lacks a back protector, but the inclusion of other armor is satisfactory for most customers. Lightweight, with ample pockets, it serves well for various weather conditions and riding styles. Overall, a worthwhile investment for riders seeking reliable protection.
Came off my bike at 25mph. Had a short slide on the road. While the shoulder with the added abrasion resistance held up perfectly, my outer forearm which was also touring the road gave way really quickly. After such a short slide it got through all layers, to the thermal liner. A few meters more and my skin would've been kissing the road.
I never really paid attention to CE rating until that crash, but now I realise CE A is not even close to being enough, which is what this jacket is.
I’m 6’2 slim build and wear a 44-46 chest. Having previously owned Alpinestars Andes I knew they came up small. So I ordered a xxl in this jacket and the fit is absolutely perfect! Heavyweight, comfortable, quality. Superb fast delivery from SBS as per usual. Hope this sizing review helps potential buyers.
Alpinestars quality just as you'd expect, tried RST but AS has longer arms and a really good fit for me. Only one waterproof pocket but vents are a real bonus.
Tried on in store before buying. Sizing always a problem depending - anything from medium to clear depending on make. Large in Alpinestars a good fit, feels great and looks good. Bought based on other reviews but yet to put to the test as needed new kit for October European trip.
Would highly recommend this jacket it fits like a glove and very warm which is most welcomed at this time of the year. I have recently been caught in the most torrid downpour and was dry as a bone.
Have found the fit comfortable. Plenty of adjustment to tailor fit. Cannot comment on waterproof as have not yet ridden in the rain. Will probably now buy the matching trousers
This jacket is very good value at the SBS price. It fits well, is quite heavy but not too heavy, has good protection (no back) and I like the style. My chest size is 44" and XL is just right. I particularly like the colour too. The only complaint I can find is the collar hold-back, it just does not work. But since I don't use it I have discounted that from my favourable opinion. I think this jacket will last me some years and has been a good purchase.
Bought the jacket for a tour of Scotland. It was tested in all kinds of weather. Sun, heavy rain, constant drizzle the jacket was perfect, warm, bone dry and comfortable. Really good fit.
It keeps me warm and lots of other positives.
The only negative is that the end of the sleaves when there is no inerling can be ruff and rub on your hand. But overall a great bit of gear
I purchased this as a replacement for a summer jacket. The ventilation on hot days is really good, intake vents on chest and under arms allow for a nice air flow around the jacket. Not used it in the rain, have another jacket for such days
Wanting a decent bike jacket my options were varied massively in quality and price sports. Bike was very helpful in making me make the right decision clear precise with no frills thank you.
Nicely waterproof and warm. Comfortable fit and stylish. Be careful as not all the pockets are waterproof. Haven’t been anywhere really warm yet and have a feeling the venting might not be up to ver6 hot days but will have to see.
It’s a nice jacket. True to size. You can’t upgrade armour
Good quality jacket, stylish and functional with removable winter liner.
Jacket is very lightweight and comfortable, reasonably priced, doesn’t come with back protection and standard armour is only A rated, other than that the jacket is perfect for me.
Great jacket that is comfortable to wear, has plenty of pockets and above all the protection that you need. It is also quite light and comes with a detachable inner liner. Only downside of this jacket is that it is not easy to swap out the elbow protection. All in all very good textile jacket
Love it but had to order XL as L tight. Warm and keeps the wind out.
Comfortable, adjustable and excellent water proofing. My favourite jacket brand.
Designed using Alpinestars' exclusive Drystar membrane, the Andes V3 offers 100% waterproofing with high levels of breathability, even in difficult riding conditions. The technically advanced construction offers protection and abrasion resistance and includes CE limb armour. Adaptable to all weather conditions thanks to high airflow vents and a removable thermal liner.

I suggest checking out the Alpinestars Nucleon Plasma Back Protector; the description includes dimensions that will help you choose the correct size for your jacket.
