Klim X1 Alpha - Gloss Concept Petrol / Strike Orange Having spent the last three years in the Klim Krios Pro, I was looking to purchase the same again until the X1 appeared. I didn't particularly like any of the X1 colours, but thought I'd try the Blue/orange for fit and feel. The colours of this helmet on all the internet ads do not do it justice, it's loads better in the flesh. So I bought it. Now 2000 miles in and I love it. It's loads quieter than the Krios Pro, the visor ratchet mechanism is more positive, the closure is stronger. The peak and visor removal is a doddle with no tools required. The Cardo Edge fitting is easy, with deep recesses internally for the speakers and a flat area externally for the base plate. I do wish they'd kept the Fidlock chin strap, but soon used to the old stool double D ring. There's no lift from the peak sat behind a GS screen with the peak in it's lowest of 3 positions. It comes with a photo-chromatic visor, which I love, and a pinlock insert. A lovely helmet. Go try it......
Klim X1 Alpha - Gloss Concept Petrol / Strike Orange Now I have always been a Shoei buyer. Shoei head needs a Shoei lid. I've previously tried all the alternative brands and models and now again when the Shoei Hornet ADV was no longer available due to the EU 22.06 safety standards. I hadn't really been aware of Klim gear, let alone their lids, but boy was I surprised! (in a good way)
It fits like a Shoei (for me anyway) and has surpassed the quality of my previous and numerous Shoei lids by quite some way. The lining is plush, soft, cool and comfortable. Ventilation is very good and the noise level very low, even with the vents and peak. The visor swap mechanism easy and tool free and overall a very light, comfortable lid with a differing style. I am very pleased with the purchase and despite its premium price, find it good value for money. I would recommend others to at least try one for size.
Klim Krios Pro - Matt Black This helmet has pretty much everything you need, lightness, transitions visor, quiet, good air flow and the softest liner to a crash helmet I’ve ever owned, the only downside was I had to order thicker cheek pads for the perfect fit but the actual helmet is true to size
Klim X1 Alpha - Carbon Matt Black This is another superb product by Klim, I think it is better than my Krios Pro, it s quieter and the tool free changing of the visor and removal of the peak is a great addition, although I never struggled with the Krios.
It does take a bit of pulling on, but that is due to the neck and chin collar being much more snug, making riding much quieter.
The visor mechanism is also really good, a really solid click to fully close, or just leave it open a bit in town to get more air, much better.
My only personal issue, I like the fidlock system, so would have loved that option, but I do get it.
Fit is great, premium product, superb finish and some nice changes from the Krios Pro.
Sportbikeshop are also up to their usual excellent customer service, speedy delivery and nothing seems too much trouble.
Klim Krios Pro - Ventura Burnt Olive This is my second Klim Krios Pro and have found no fault with them. The transition visor works well and is not to dark when it changes in the sunlight. It can be a little noisy at highspeed but its not to bad and I have had much worse., but for non motorway/highway driving its good.
The magnetic locking neck strap is a god send when you ride off and forget to do it up (as we all do occasionally) so you don't have to stop like you would with the D ring or ratchet type as it just snaps into place.
The peak comes off each if you wanted to use it as a normal street helmet and needs to tools or coins to undo things!
Highly recommended
Klim Krios Pro - Matt Black Light and fits lovely.
I'm usually an xl in helmet but I'm a large in this make so I'd say try one on.
Transition screen is a game changer.
Klim TK1200 Carbon - Skyline Matt Black A different fit and feel from my previous Shuberths, a few weeks in and I prefer it. Noisier than those but not excessively so. Transition visor is good but with transition spectacles care needed when closing the visor until the specs lighten up. Waterproofing of visor seal excellent in two hours of biblical rainy motorway. Noticeably lighter than any other flip front I've owned.
