Shoei NXR 2 - Capriccio TC1

I've worn open face helmets since starting riding 8 years ago, coming from a road cycling background. They've been great, especially in hot weather, but wind noise and drafts in winter, not so good. This Shoei NXR 2 is a revelation. Quiet even without ear defenders, the fit of the screen in a different league to my Vespa helmet and it handles the airflow from the medium screen on my GTS without any fuss or buffeting. The pinlock system amazing in keeping fogging at bay. The quality is top draw and the fittings very well designed, especially the chin and breath guards that work seamlessly. Delighted with the speedy delivery and packaging. A major step forward in my riding experience.

The first NXR was my favourite helmet but this new version is simply better due to the new central visor lock. I'm size medium on both versions. No issues at all. I was able to fit Cardo Edge nice and easy. I can't comment on wind noise as I use custom plugs all the time.

This will be the 4th Shoei I've owned along with some Arai's and AGV's. Never ceases to surprise me the built quality, comfort and performance, namely the lack of wind noise.

The visor swap is as easy as it can be yet it always feels solid after clipping on.

Plenty of vents so ventilation is something you can tailor to your immediate needs.

I purchased this as I needed a replacement for my original NXR helmet. It was on offer presumably due to the graphics but it was what I was looking for. Sportsbike shop even price matched another dealer selling it for £50 less. The helmet appears to be slightly undersize compared to the original so I needed to go the next size up. Pinlock was an excellent fit and I've had no issues with steaming up even in very low temperatures with the chin guard in place. No problem with wearing glasses. The only niggle I've got is that even with the vents all closed I could feel some cold air coming into the helmet, something that didn't happen on my old NXR. You can't close the rear vent on this model so maybe it's drawing air in. Overall a really good, lightweight and comfortable helmet. Getting a premium brand helmet for under £300 is a real bargain. Nice helmet fits really well only downside is that it doesn't have a sunvisor, but would definitely recommend

Was looking for a helmet that had comfort and noise reduction. The Shoei NXR 2 had it all. This is a perfect fit and superb comfort and what made it even better is that days after purchasing this helmet on line I read a report that Shoei helmets are the 2nd safest helmets made, thoroughly tested with state of the art technology. Just perfect for every ride, comfort, quietness, and safety all in one.

Great lightweight helmet, but very noisy without having any music on. Whistling sound even without any vents open. So if you like to ride without music (or singing) pick something else, but other than that, can't fault this great lid

Ordered this Shoei helmet after a visit to the Bristol store.
After trying on several makes with the expert advice from Courtney (brilliant guy) who spent a good amount of time with us, we were advised to order a different size cheek pad to prevent pressure on the cheeks. Helmet arrived in the colour we wanted, which looks better than on the pictures, once the cheek pads were changed the fit is perfect. Pin lock (supplied) was an easy fit & all ready to go. Helmet is light in weight & very well made.

So I'll start off with the not so great. I'd read a ton of reviews before buying and most said the lid was quiet..it's not. Even with all vents closed it's noisy. Secondly, if you want to ride with your visor up a click or two, make sure you're riding under 20mph! It drops itself much above that. I can ride at 60 with the visor halfway up but it's a really loose mechanism.
Oh, and the Sena 10s I ride with needed to be fixed using the sticky pad as the original fixing wouldn't really work without messing with the padding.
On the plus side, fit is fantastic as comfort is excellent. Loving the 'who's that with a red helmet?' visibility and vents are excellent. Can definitely feel quality.
So pro's and cons but don't regret getting it…

Been using this helmet for a few months and it has been brilliant, the fit is great and I have a clear view from it. Had a recent accident wearing this helmet and it fully protected my head. I will be replacing it with a new one.

I've been wearing a Shark helmet for about 3 years, that cost around £150. I've just started doing a daily commute of around 60 miles, mostly on the motorway and wanted to find a quieter helmet with better ventilation. This Shoei NXR2 does exactly that for a few hundred less than many supposed rivals.. You can see and feel the high quality in the padding, which is much more extensive than in cheaper helmets. There's also a removable chin guard to further reduce wind and noise, although it doesn't do a huge amount.
The ventilation is superb. Open the main slider on the top fully and you can feel a breeze over the top of your head, with the warm air leaving via the exhaust vents at the back.
Visor has lots of opening settings and clips securely fully closed.
Also comes with a pro pinlock anti-mist visor insert that works perfectly.
Really comfortable to wear and, with the chin vent closed, a lot quieter than the cheaper helmets I've owned before.

Previous 6 helmets all Arai, got fed up of broken side pods. Bought this Shoei & it really is far superior. Great quality, visor/side pods no issues here. The best thing, its so much quieter than previous helmet's. It meets the latest safety standards, what's not to like, go ahead treat yourself to a Shoei NXR 2
