Merlin Edale II Cotec Wax D3O Mens Jacket - Black

I bought this in may for a planned group ride out . The weather was predicted to be unusually warm ( it was ) so I was looking for something a tad lighter for warmer climes yet sturdy enough to hold out a Welsh deluge . The Edale has well lived up to my expectations in light to heavy showers , I chilly starts to warmer days . The pickets have really fine poly zips , easy to do/undue and all pockets fold over similar to a canoe bag top effect with synthetic liners that are bound to keep the rain out in any deluge. And there's plenty of em ! In fact I keep finding ones I didn't know whre there inc one on the sleeve for quick access to change keys etc & two side pockets I stuff me gloves in when fueling up ( they have magnetic fasteners too) . After a recent spin down the M6 I found the jacket was billowing a bit , but this was soon rectified by tightening the inner drawstring (another recent discovery)
I like the buckle and 2 prestud strap on the collar not jus cus it looks good but actually fasteners easily for a change . The Hally Salverson wax material is very similar to the barbour type fabric , yet a lit softer in feel and significantly lighter compared to my barbour jacket , the Jacket can also be re-waxed with a tin of reprofer available to do yourself.
The retro looking jacket goes well with my modern classic triumph Bonneville , and very comfortable to wear . There is a techy liner which holds in heat and apparently redistributes when body temperature drops , although I took it out from the start as it would have been really too warm
Only negatives . - I think this jacket even with liner removed may be too warm for those rare heatwaves . And occasionally I find myself sitting on the rear of the jacket due to its length, however I prefer plenty of back cover .
Overall a thoroughly well thought out design with top spec fabric and fasteners and of course it looks the dogs gonads in style
A good all rounder Highley recommended

Bought my normal riding jacket size, Large, fits perfectly. So far only worn a couple of times but is comfortable to wear and feels a quality bit of kit.

Bought this jacket to get me through the winter months. I have a short 30min ride to work dual carriage way, town and motorway. In the three weeks I've had it it's rained half of the time - I'm dry arriving at work or back home. It's been -5 degrees (and remember at 70+mph that's -15) - I warm. I cut down on my layering too otherwise at 5 degrees I'm too warm. So if you're looking for a warm and dry jacket consider this.
Oh and the fitbits at work think it looks cool!
