Best of the best

Fits like a glove, I ride every day and all day as an instructor and this jacket has kept me warm and dry including during the recent two storms we have had with torrential rain and wind. it is a bit stiff to begin with but that goes after a week of wearing it. Excellent service and delivery from sportsbikeshop and I had 300 quid knocked off. This feels like a tank with the armour in and definitely feels like quality. This model does not have a removable liner but I wear my own thermals and when its really cold I have a heated vest. It also is a good looking jacket and gets good feedback from the Mrs. All in all I think this is a cracking bit of kit for the price.

A good all rounder

This is a quality jacket, and in spite of the size of the armour is very comfortable - with the chest armour going unnoticed.
It is definitely waterproof, having ridden for 3 hours in the pouring rain and was completely dry, except for the small gap where I didn't zip right up to the top!
It works well as a summer jacket letting air pass through and circulate. But you definitely need something warm underneath when the temperature drops below 15 degrees.
It would be nice if it had vents on the arms and a couple more outside pockets, but on the whole, a good all rounder.

Very pleased with this jacket

The cost of this jacket is significant, but feels less severe when you consider the quality you are getting. And then the six year warranty.
I was a little nervous about ordering a 'new' item to the website, preferring to let others be the guinea-pigs and then go from the reviews. But staff were very helpful over the phone offering advice and I decided to go for it.
I have one of the earlier editions of the Klim Traverse which has been fantastic and given years of service. Still a fair jacket. But even after care and washing with tech wash and proofer over the years it just isn't what it was. Cannot complain after the use it has had and in terms of the Klim range it was a budget option.
I was considering another Klim jacket but when you see other people wearing Rukka gear you can see just how good it is and most people if you ask have been wearing the same Rukka gear without any issues for years.
On the back of this I ordered a large as I am large in most clothing.
For reference: I am roughly 172cm, 88kg, 110cm chest.
5'8'', 13.9 Stone, 42-43 chest.
Laege was a little tight and didn't allow the room I like to have for layering options. The arms were tight with the Keiss heated jacket underneath and in a riding position put stress across the back.
Rukka must run more of a European cut (Makes sense being a European brand).
The exchange for the XL was the right call and it has a nice fit. Room for layers, but still a good fit and not too loose with only a thin base layer on and the substantial armour coverage being in the right places.
'A side note on armour: Advertised as having split chest protectors to fit the internal pockets. These didn't arrive on delivery but staff were great in getting these sent out explaining there were issues with stock of the chest protectors across the range.'
I invested in the explorer trousers (I think that's what they were called). I would have liked to have the option of the same jacket. But it isn't available.
Only difference really would be the extra pockets and two chest vents. I would enviably end up putting things I didn't need in these pockets and I more than likely won't be using this jacket if the weather is warm so the two chest vents probably won't be missed.
This jacket doesn't come with the insulated inner down jacket like the Nivala etcetera. But when you look at the price points the extra money seems to be covering the insulation and not a great deal of other features this jacket doesn't have.
I prefer to wear my own layers and already own various options that I have tried and tested and am happy work for me.
Jacket features:
Ventilation - Not tested yet as only used in cold and wet weather.
Zips when closed seal well and do not allow water ingress.
Waterproofing - Absolutely superb. Not a drop after hours of torrential rain on a number of occasions.
Does not wet out so no need to dry out for days or be dripping in the hall. Two hour ride in a downpour and the jacket was perfectly dry when I went out the house early the next morning.
Storm collar - Haven't tried this as the normal neck sits high enough up my neck and into my helmet that I haven't felt it necessary. This collar takes a bit of getting used to when tucked away and at first I was finding it awkward and restrictive for movement and lifesavers. But I am getting used to it. Previous Rukka jackets from what I have read had a removable storm collar but this was changed to a fixed option, as in this jacket due to people losing them and Rukka not offering replacement stock (I personally would prefer the removable option for comfort as I doubt I will ever use the storm collar). Suppose its good to have the option there though.
The fold over of the neck fastening you can velcro back to hold the jacket open slightly tends to catch my helmet lining. Possibly just the fit of that helmet and again just takes getting used to. (At first I panicked and thought I had pulled away with my helmet unfastened).
Cuffs: The zips up the sleeve and access for heavier gloves was part of the draw to a Rukka jacket. These work quite well but would be more practical if the zip ran ever so slightly more up the sleeve.
The inner cuff thing that Rukka do is a good idea to keep the draught and water out. I find on this jacket that they are a bit impractical with my favourite gloves I like to wear. It is a bit awkward and difficult to tuck them in and I have found that a few miles down the road the inner cuff has moved and I then have a draught running up my arm. Then because my base layers are sitting further up my arm inside the jacket that this cold air has direct access to my arm above the wrist at this point as the goretex cuff or whatever it is called is not insulated. Would probably work well with gauntlet gloves, but I just don't like these.
Another point that took some time to notice was that the stitching on the left inner cuff was not the same as the right side which meant it did not sit flat. Not a major issue, but slightly annoying when it bunches up.
I think having used this system now that I would have preferred a normal sleeve that you could simply cinch down on the outer of the sleeve.
Another issue I have found with these cuffs is that it makes it difficult to run the cables to heated gloves as the cable has to run down, out of the cuff, double back on itself and then snake back down to connect to the glove.
I bought the jacket for a heavy duty winter option, but it is a faff for using heated gloves which isn't ideal. This also puts stress and is a potential failure point on the cables.
I am considering poking a hole in this inner cuff to route the cable simply and tidily, but don't want to void the warranty.
Pockets - Good. Not a fan of the key tethered in the right pocket and doubt I will ever use this.
Fit and comfort - Very comfortable jacket. Shorter cut than I am used to but no negativity in regards to riding up or allowing water in.
Styling- A smart looking jacket that doesn't shout 'Look at me! I'm on a bike.' I like this as it is not a loud design, offering the protection from the elements and a potential accident that I am looking for.
Overall I am happy with this jacket and look forward to using it for what will hopefully be years to come.
These are my own findings and I have no previous experience of Rukka to compare, but I hope anyone who is considering this jacket can use my experience to help them make their decision.
Depends what it is exactly you are looking for, but this jacket is working for me.

Excellent

I must say I was apprehensive spending so much money in a jacket especially online. This has to be the best jacket I have ever owned. The attention to detail and comfort are brilliant. Sportsbikeshop were great with their help and ease of buying. As a company I wouldn't hesitate to feel confident even with such an expensive purchase.
