Verified Customer Reviews for SENA Spider ST1 (SP105) Mesh Headset & Intercom
Customers find the dual model convenient for riding with others, though initial fitting to helmets can be tricky. Many praise the product’s ability to connect seamlessly to other devices and its robust performance in various weather conditions. Users appreciate the good range, excellent battery life, and clear sound quality despite some minor issues like firmware updates, USB cable dependency, and occasional malfunctions. Overall, the product receives high marks for ease of use, setup simplicity, and value for money.
Excellent sound quality, easily heard even at motorway speeds and in heavy traffic, very easy to fit and sync with my phone.
Bought 3 of these easy to install and set up they have a good range and upto 60mph you can hear each other clearly with ear protection in the model number sp105 allows you to update through the app so do a bit of research before you buy
Good for inside the city, fairly ok connectivity.
Quite bad quality of sound and mic.
Great value for money, linked up via mesh with all my mates (most are on more expensive Sena intercoms) - some really useful contacts made with directions, but mostly crap banter. Distance is pretty good but clear line of site makes it perfect. Even had some funny interactions with others on open mesh too. Worked well for phone and music too. Really easy to fit and and kept plenty of charge all day.
Early days I've only tried it out twice but it is very clear speaking and hearing and music came through clear bluetoothed from phone.
As usual brilliant service from SBS & very competitively priced,.
This is a great piece of kit! The sound quality is impressive, and it offers a lot of functionality. Mounting it on an older helmet without dedicated space can be a bit tricky, but it's definitely doable. For optimal performance, I recommend checking the manual and adjusting the settings to your preferences.
I bought the ST1 in April, set it up (very simple) with a couple of test rides and went on a 3-week tour of Europe in May. It mostly worked fine but I have some issues with it. Firstly, the satnav's nagging over-rides the intercom. I would much prefer it the other way around or, better still, just reduce the satnav volume when the intercom is active, just as it does with the music audio. I ended up turning off the satnav announcements because they became so intrusive in towns and cities. Secondly, it is impossible to use the controls reliably with even light summer gloves - just a small raised bump in the middle of the central button would help. Thirdly, and far more seriously, both headsets failed in the rain. The rain was persistent but never particularly heavy. It was too days before the headsets dried out sufficiently to function again. The failure mode of the first headset wasn't pleasant with loud and persistent screeching and distortion through the headphones of the set that briefly continued to function. Why would anybody make an externally mounted motorcycle headset that fails after so little rain? The ST1 was clearly not designed by a motorcyclist.
Good bit of kit for someone who is just getting started, speakers are okay, but difficult to hear other people speaking at around 60mph+ although that may be due to the helmet, easy set up and a choice of mics. A bit annoying that it is unable to connect to Bluetooth headsets and only mesh users but it seems that mesh is going to be more common than Bluetooth. Overall a good bit of kit with only a few draw backs
I've only used this once having replaced a failing interphone. A lot of my riding group use Sena mesh so it made sense to go for a mesh enabled intercom. I don't need a lot of functionality, just mesh and connect to a mobile and this fits the requirements perfectly. The sound quality is excellent, simple and easy to use the controls and mesh distance was more than adequate. I used this on a dry ride, hopefully it will perform as well in the wet. For my requirements this is a great unit and easy to fit into my helmet and I would recommend.
Brilliant bit of kit wouldn't be without it
Good sound quality and easy to install. Seems great so far, I've had it in some rain and it works fine (though I have heard that long term it doesn't fair very well in the wet). The app is a little annoying, could be laid out better. The dual set is excellent for me and the wife to talk when out riding.
Very easy to use and quality sound
Helpful during ventures with friends
This is a superb piece of kit with excellent sound and the mesh technology is very easy to use when pairing with another Sena unit.
What isn't great is the Sena app. It's generally poor and difficult to navigate. The instructions are all on the app and none are provided in the actual box. How hard is it to supply a quick start guide?
Overall, I would recommend and hopefully Sena gets their app sorted.
Having replaced a cheaper brand intercom system, I was amazed by the quality of the audio and clarity. Super simple to setup also. The only downside is that the first time I tried this system I was on a tour with my mate - we didn't upgrade the firmware before we left. We were able to bring the problem down to the Sena being paired with an iPhone, so as soon as we disconnected that and left it unpaired, worked like a treat!
Great unit at a great price and simple to use, easy to fit into an Arai tour x4
Recommend using the stick on mount not the clamp,
It would be nice if the volume on the speakers went a little bit higher,
Overall Excellent.
Only used this for a few weeks and purchased specifically for comms with pillion and Sat Nav.
I have to say this has been a great piece of kit. Sound quality is good.
The only issue I had was getting the right gating set up for the mic to avoid cutting out, or always being open, eventually got there though and now I can say for the money this is a great product.
