Verified Customer Reviews for Cardo Freecom 4X Bluetooth Intercom
Customers have mixed feelings about the Cardo Freecom 4X helmet intercom unit. While many praise its sound quality, ease of installation, and voice activation features, others have experienced technical issues such as faulty microphones, random disconnections, and unresponsive customer service. Despite these issues, the unit performs well for music, phone calls, and GPS navigation. The intercom's waterproof feature and battery life are also positively noted. Overall, customers seem to value the convenience and advanced functionality, though some have encountered recurring faults.
First time using an intercom from any manufacturer, so I went through a lot of reviews - mainly Cardo and Sena, and for my needs on functionality, as well as the feedback on the quality of the product, the Freecom 4x came out on top. installing to my Shoei Neotec 2 was a little frustration, probably in me trying very hard to route the wires to a more discrete position, as well as lack of competence on my part!
I have yet to use all of the functionality - yet to try comms via phone as well as intercom with pillion or another rider, but when I have used media and sat nav, it has been perfect.
Already have the Freecom 4 plus on my original helmet which was brilliant but bought a new Shoie GT air 2 so treated myself to the updated 4x which again is excellent.
First intercom used with mate on a tour of France and was a game changer being able to communicate with each other for stops, fuel and just pointing out sites. Really useful connecting to phone apps for navigation directions and listening to music en route. Sound quality is excellent but as expected it is affected by wind noise over 75-80mph but still can be heard.
I guess with a tourer with more wind protection this would be less of an issue. The voice commands take some getting used too as the exact wording has to be used but this is no more of an issue than learning the four button functions by memory which duplicate functions. Had it cracked by day two of the tour.
Overall great purchase and decent range on intercom. When the signal does drop it will reconnect as soon as back in range.
Use the freecom 4X for teaching CBT students. Distance is ok, clarity excellent, fast charging. Excellent product. Far superior to Sena.
Well pleased with the Cardo, freecom x4 links up with Sat Nav, phone & other riders ok, good quality of sound and being able to have voice prompts even better, would defo' recommend
I'm new to the world of Intercoms, I've always been a bit who needs that, enjoy the isolation on the bike, old school. Rubbish, in the car you expect access to music, sat nav, Siri/Google and phone connection. Now have it built completely unobtrusively into your helmet and use it or switch it off if you want that isolation. occasionally.
Easy to fit in my Arai RX7 V Evo. Sound is excellent, is effected by wind slightly over 70+ mph but still plenty good enough to hear and communicate. without increasing volume to dangerous levels. I use with Auritech earplugs which minimise wind noise without effecting audio quality.
Speedy dispatch and receipt through SBS.
This intercom is so easy to use and the sound quality of the audio is clear and the music through the speakers is amazing and clear much better than other types of intercom I have had in the past.
It also works with Google Pixel phones correctly and you can use all the Cardo app features which is excellent as I did buy a Sena SFR and that did not work with the google pixel phone
The buttons on the intercom are easy to find to change things and you get used to pressing them as they are quite hard at first to press them but the voice recognition feature works really well as well to tell the intercom to do things while on the move
Overall I am very pleased with the unit excellent advice from Sports bike shop
Excellent bit of kit easy to set up works well and in heavy rain
Exactly what I was looking for especially with voice control which is great when you are riding
Only used this system a few times but it felt like a revelation to me! - I've never had one before, am not particularly good with technology but I managed to get it up and running,
I like to listen to the radio while driving and found it a revelation while riding. Phone calls were okay too but I'm struggling to get the voice activation to work regularly.
It was a little tricky to fit to my new Scorpion R1 helmet but I got there and it looks pretty neat. It is light and unobtrusive, the buttons are accessible and work well. - Now I need to learn how to use it and remember the voice commands !
Been using for a couple of weeks now the quality of the product is fantastic the controls are very easy to use when riding along has well has the voice control very responsive also the sound from the head set is extremely good when playing music on answering calls very clear all in all I would definitely be recommending to others
Great sound quality, nice feature of being able to listen to music and have an intercom open. Really natural talking with this versus a push button. Great noise cancelling, doesn't seem to eat phone battery and the rang was better than expected too. All round brilliant product
I've never used a intercom before so have nothing to compare it to but I'm impressed, fitting was straight forward, it took a couple of times to get the speakers in just the right place but when I got it right it makes a massive difference to the sound quality. Voice control is brilliant & makes my 1hr commute everyday a whole lot better swapping between the radio or music on the phone with no problem or pressing any buttons. Ordered it Friday night got delivered on the Monday, should've got this years ago
A big improvement over any Sena units. I have two SC10's (one built in my Schuberth C4) and the speakers in the Cardo unit are way better. Calls could be a bit louder / clearer, but seriously, who wants to be on the phone when you're out riding anyway!!
Bought this to go onto my new helmet (shoei neotec 3) and it fitted perfectly, without needing any modification or additional parts.
This intercom is superb and the additional voice control makes this so easy to use without needing to faff with gloved fingers.
Had to return because of battery problems, sportsbikeshop staff at reading shop were great, dealt with it quickly was sent to cardo for testing and replaced with no trouble and sent to my home address. So I didn't have to go to the shop to collect, great job
Straight from the box it's easy to use and simple to install.
Then the quality of the sound is beyond what I was expecting while still being fully aware of the surrounding traffic. Can't recommend enough
Very good communicator and great quality speakers
