Oxford Advanced Expedition MS Jacket - Black

This is a great jacket, if a little odd in design. It's kind of made up of panels, with wind-proof panels at the front of the body and sleeves, but more flexible material at the back. The fleece lining only goes half way down from the neck but it is all-round, at the back as well as at the front. However, it does a fantastic job as a mid-layer in Spring and Autumn (I have a heated mid-layer for Winter) keeping the oncoming wind out and stopping the wind-chill effect. Sizing is, as some say, on the small side - I am 5'9" and slightly built so the Medium fits me perfectly (a little snug which is good for a mid-layer). If you're particularly tall (over 6 ft) or alittle more rotund than myself you will want to go a size up from your usual I'd say. Overall, a fantastic product, especially at the sale price which I paid. Nice rubber waist band keeps the jacket in place and those thumb-holes are brilliant too - other manufacturers take note!

Very impressed with this jacket. I wore this over my polo shirt under my jacket & was surprised how warm I felt and how windproof it was. With a base layer in the colder months this will make riding a pleasure. The fitting is spot on .

This mid-layer is ideal for very cold conditions. It's lightweight and slim. I wear a short jacket all year round and this mid-layer fits nicely under that, even with my jacket lining zipped in. As per other customers, I went a size up and I'm glad I did. I'm really pleased with this product, it looks good, works well and appears to be well made. The SBS customer reviews are very helpful too.

Exactly what I was looking for, I never like the quilted thermal jackets that jackets come with, this is not too bulky with a great fit, good wind protection, I’ve used this under a mesh jacket in the mornings when you want to take the chill off and it’s worked perfect over a t shirt.

I wanted a warm layer to go under a couple of different jackets. I tried on various slim puffa jackets but they still felt a bit bulky so sent them back to SB. The Oxford is nice and slim… and it is warm in all the right places under the mesh panels of my outer jacket. It also squishes down into a stuff sack in my top box better than the puffa jackets. And it looks good when I’m off the bike. Well pleased

I wanted something for touring that would double up as a light jacket and not look out of place off the bike with jeans, etc. This ticks the boxes. Wore it the other morning under my Rukka Kalix - temperature got down to -1 and this still kept me warm. It has a fleece lining across the chest and front of arms which keeps the windblast at bay and fits nicely under my coat. Would definitely recommend.

Ill likely only use this when touring in the mountains for some extra warmth, but its fantastic quality, much better than RST.

This is a really good quality jacket, looks nice on and is warm and comfortable. Would have got 5 stars if the sizing was a bit more accurate. It was on the small size and had to go up a size but the bigger size was perfect.

Good quality midlayer combined with baselayer, great fit, I ordered my normal size of medium, nice snug fit. I removed the thermal layer from jacket which makes it a lot more comfortable. I found that it was windproof and kept me warm riding in 3 degrees so with windchill no problem. Also I can see it will be a very versatile jacket, useful when moving into more summer type jacket. The full length zip and pockets makes it handy off the bike as well. A good piece of kit.

This, as a mid layer works well. I had a deep suspicion of ‘technical’ stuff like this. But the design and wearability is exactly as advertised. Functional, windproof, fleece lined and warm. They type of layer to have on in the winter, and keep in the top for colder summer mornings under a mesh jacket.
Way better than the old ‘standby’ fleece. Usual ace SBS next day delivery, too.
