Verified Customer Reviews for Oxford Hinterland Advanced Textile Trousers
Our customers say…
Customers have praised the Hinterland trousers for their comfort, waterproof performance, and fitting accuracy. The trousers perform well in various weather conditions, keeping users dry and warm. Some mentioned the convenience of the removable thermal liner and appreciate the included braces. However, a few customers noted issues with the ankle fastening being too loose and excess material around the legs. Overall, the trousers are recommended for their quality and functionality, although some minor design refinements could improve user experience.

Hinterland

Nice to have a short leg version. Most bike kit is far to long for my 'prop forward' shape.

Decent trousers
10 September 2024 by Gary J
I bought these as part of the full suit. They fit, look ok and so far have been waterproof (the 2 year warranty is reassuring). I've scored them at 4 because the lower leg velcro to allow you to wrap the lower leg around your boot doesn't extend far enough, meaning that unless you're wearing big winter boots it's left too loose. Otherwise pleased and to be fair it won't kill me!!!

So good I bought it twice!
15 August 2024 by Darren S
This is the second set of these Jacket and trousers I have bought.
The first set is still going strong, still fully waterproof, just a little snug as I gave "grown" lol
When I saw the price for both, probably as they are at the end of their production, I knew it was a great buy.
The set have never let me down, I highly recommend it, and as always with quick service from Sportbikeshop. Thank you.

Good All Year Commuter Trousers
23 July 2024 by Nick
I was on my DAS course and one of the days it was raining, so got to test out these trousers. I kept dry (being summer, I had removed the thermal liner).
There was a slight coolness to the air, so had to close the air vents - thus, the air vents work!
I looked for a pair of trousers that would fit over my actual work trousers. The Hinterland is a bit tight around the hip/crotch area (I had to remove my work trouser belt), but it is do-able. I mean, it is tight without my work trousers...
Hopefully, these will last a long time.

Great product great price

Look and feel
Good quality. The fit is perfect for me. I ordered a large and I'm about a 35" waist. Normally have a 31" trouser leg but ordered a short length and they fit perfectly. Pleased with them so far. Yet to test the waterproofing but no reason to doubt they'll be good given the other reviews

Leaked at the crotch after a few months
10 June 2024 by Alexander C
I ride for the Blood Bikes and bought a pair of these and the jacket last October based on the excellent reviews.
They have been great and totally waterproof for months often riding in heavy rain for 3 to 4 hours at a time.
However, a couple of weeks back the trousers let the water in at the crotch. To be fair I was riding in very heavy rain for a few hours and I have done a good few thousand miles in them.
I contacted Sportsbikeshop and they agreed to refund me or replace them. As usual fantastic service from them which is why I buy all my gear from them.
I have taken a replacement so fingers crossed this next pair remains waterproof.
Please note the jacket has been fantastic. No leaks.

Oxford hinterland trousers
27 May 2024 by Patrick N
Just back from a spin on the bike, in heavy rain, trousers let rain in at the crotch, I was very surprised because the jacket was bone dry, trousers feel and fit excellent, armour is excellent, however the leak let them down badly

Oxford trousers
18 May 2024 by Richard
Bought these from the Reading store in January. Used a few times when the velcro fasteners are the back of the waist parted with waist band. Sportsbikeshop replaced the trousers without fuss and with free postage. New trousers all good so far so 10/10 for Sportsbikeshop but only a 7 for Oxford

Baggy trousers
10 May 2024 by Ian G
These are very well made and the waist sizing is accurate.
However, the legs are very baggy and the ankles are far too loose.
With the ankles as tight as possible (Velcro only, no zips) a hurricane blows up my trouser leg!
I will be making some mods with a sewing machine ...
The overall look is too "Charlie Chaplin" for me.
The hip armour (L1) is huge and this is somewhat uncomfortable. The knees are fine,
Im assuming that that the trousers are waterproof.

Good enough but not perfect.
08 May 2024 by Alan G
Comfortable and good value, but my fist pair left me damp down below (quickly and easily replaced by SportsBikeShop who deserve 5 stars).
Bit of a design flaw is the size of the ankle cuff, which is too large. Velcro closing still leaves them very loose. So too blulcky to go inside the boot yet still loose on the outside.
Usable, and good enough, but not perfect.

Trousers
17 April 2024 by Steven R
True to size comfortable to wear and warm, haven't used in rain yet but water does roll off just like expensive Goretex garment's Trousers fit and fasteners work well, not had any issues with Velcro ankle fasteners

Tri-laminate at a good price.

Excellent service from SBS as usual. The trousers came with hip and knee armour and the braces keep them in place. They kept me dry in heavy rain. Good waterproof pockets.

Great quality
17 March 2024 by Paul S
These are great trousers, so far waterproof, have not had really cold weather and not used to thermal liner yet.
Ankle fixing is just velcro which having had zippers that were always getting caught in fabric is a relief.
True to size so read the size guide.

Good jacket & Trousers
06 March 2024 by Steve G
I've been wearing this for a couple of months. The jacket & trousers both feel well made. I'm unsure how well the velcro only fasiners will stand the test of time as the velcro often breaks up on my other bike wear,
Pros:
* Super Comfy
* Water proof (riden in a few 30 minute storms
* Venting works well
* Looks good
Cons:
* Trousers are a very weird cut. Super baggy on the legs but restrictive around the crotch area
* Velcro only fasteners around ankles & wrists
* When it's below zero I get a draft on my chest. Feels like the overlap on the liner should be much wider
* Pockets on trousers and jacket are awkward to use
Overall I'm pretty pleased with it.

Wet test
24 January 2024 by Frank J
First time on it rained on me for a good 2 hours and no wet bottom.
Went a size above my usual one as these are for winter with extra layers to tuck in. Legs are a little baggy, I'm shortish so that doesn't help how they look off bike but once riding they are fine. I like the braces, materials and stitching seem good too.

Very good, but not perfect
12 November 2023 by Ashley R
I bought these in black with the matching jacket and they are not the same shade of black. I contacted Oxford and they confirmed this and that they do not manufacture these items in matching shades. It's slight but it is noticeable.
Otherwise, these are generally well made and not as stiff as some laminates. There is either something of an excess of material around the ankle or an inadequate method of taking up the excess with the Velcro fastners but it causes no draught or water ingress. Great value and braces help regarding comfort. I needed more room at the top of the thigh for long periods in the saddle and these provide it. Sizing seems to be as measured which makes selection easier.

Waterproof and comfortable
07 November 2023 by Tom S
Rain and wind proof during the recent stormy weather. Sizing is the same as previous Oxford Montreal gear I have had.
Included braces are better as are ankle fastenings which have no zips to catch.
I'm very pleased with my purchase.
