Not tried out yet in warm weather but jacket is excellent quality and a perfect fit. I trust it will be like sportsbikeshop and do just what is says on the tin.

Perfect for hot Euro trip

I usually wear a 2-piece leather suit for my summer Euro trip, but decided to swap to a more user-friendly setup this year. This jacket could not have been better, lets plenty of air in but without sacrificing the feeling of protection. I was hesitant in spending so much but on the first hot day knew I made the right choice.

I tried on lots of vented jackets, and this was far and away the best for me. It fitted well, no excess material in the arms means the amour in the sleeves stays put and doesn't rotate out of place, the collar is padded and comfy. Back and elbow protection was unnoticeable.

It has an internal pocket that easily takes passport and wallet. Two external pockets with good zips that say closed no matter how stuffed they were with coins, sunglasses or chocolate bars. A final forearm pocket is good for toll tickets, and credit cards, but has space for more. All zips easy to use with summer gloves.

When the temperature dropped, I supplemented the Induction jacket with a thin duck down-jacket and the Klim Resilience wind-stopper. For showers I simply have a Scott rain jacket. This allowed me to cover all non-sunny weathers the trip gave me; from 8 degree early mornings to rainstorms. I reckon I wore just a base layer and the Induction for anything over 22 degrees and popped on the wind stopper when riding in shady forests, alpine pass summits, at speed on motorways etc.

The jacket is even machine washable. Being a mesh you can't really wipe flies and bugs off, so being able to throw it in the machine to keep it clean is super easy.

Size wise I went with a Large. I'm a large for casual clothes and EURO 54 for bike gear. I was able to get into a Medium, but movement was restricted, and it rode up when in a riding position. I am 85kg and 188cm.

Fundamental flaw

I have bought loads of Klim stuff in the past (I'm a big fan as its all quality gear) but the Induction jacket has been an absolute disaster. I bought it for a Spain/Portugal trip - just got back and hating the jacket because in hot weather (i.e. what its designed for) I had great difficulty getting the jacket off as my XL hands (not 2XL or 3XL) constantly got stuck on the cuffs as there is no zip on the cuffs which in my mind is a major design fault/flaw (cost saving measure ?)- my biking colleagues also had ventilated jackets but all of them had zips in the cuff and found it hilarious watching me trying desperately to get the Klim jacket off after a ride. I did try the jacket in the UK and used it on a couple of UK trips when the weather was warmish and it was absolutely fine but as soon as it gets hot and your hands swell up a little in the heat the jacket is a nightmare to get off - so much so that on my next summer trip to Spain/Portugal or anywhere in Europe that heats up the jacket will not be joining me. It cost £430, sadly in my humble opinion its not been a good investment - if it had a zip in the cuff I would not hesitate to give it a 5 star review - instead its just two stars and to be honest that's being very generous

Mesh jacket

Bought this for summer! Does the job nicely! Mesh panels let in lots of air. If it rains I pull on my Scott roll up waterproof! On cold evenings I wear a duck down jacket underneath! System works very well. Jacket is well made

Great quality jacket that is very comfortable. A light and comfortable jacket that gives good airflow without sacrificing protection. I'm impressed. Sizing is large compared to UK normal sizing, I am a 2XL/3XL tee shirt and the 2XL Klim fits me perfect.

Great summer jacket for hot hot hot days

While slightly expensive for a summer only jacket I can't fault the quality of the jacket. Since day one I have loved wearing my jacket. It's very light and moveable. Plus the wrist straps are a huge bonus.
Oh yeah and D30 is a huge WIN.

This is a summer jacket so during colder days I would put a base layer or wind jacket over it.

Fits as expected, and I went down a size from my other icon jacket.

Tried 8 other mesh jackets, nothing came close to the fit, quality or feel of this. The D3O armour does not restrict movement and the jacket just feels great. Used in mid twenties on a 115 mile ride with a t shirt underneath really comfortable even in the town traffic. Had to put a lightweight fleece on the next morning 21 degrees and a bit too cool. Brilliant bit of kit for the hot weather and a lifetime guarantee to boot.

The perfect hot weather Jacket

Thankfully I've got a local branch of Sportsbikeshop, as I prefer to see bike gear up close when choosing. I hadn't intended to spend this much on a vented jacket, but after trying several out in the store, this one stood out for so many reasons. I held it up to the light and could see how well ventilated it is. It comes complete with vented D3O protection at elbows, shoulders and includes a D3O back protector. The build quality is clearly a cut above and I could get a perfect fit thanks to the adjustment on the sleeves and the waist.
On the bike it was a revelation. It's lightweight and so well ventilated it felt like I was wearing little more than a t-shirt, but with all the advantages of quality protection.
There are no movement restrictions on or off the bike. I made sure I got a size that allows for layering underneath so I can use it on cooler days.
It handled the recent heatwave with aplomb. I would probably not have used my bike otherwise.
Not cheap, but it's a case of 'you get what you pay for'.

Great air flow, best mesh jacket I've had. Armour includes back protector. Watch the sizing though, its American, I'm usually 3XL/Euro 60, XL fitted me perfectly!

Only Jacket Ever Need

The quality & workmanship is excellent and the supplied D30 armour is really all the protection you'll ever need for 'normal' riding.
It's incredible in the way it allows air to flow (even when stationary) but without the feeling of a blasting wind.
The 'fit' is very North American as it allows for perfect chest size but with a generous comfort element around the waist and length. I normally ride in European 'boy band' style jackets with tight fit, short length and designed for use 'off' rather than 'on' your bikes so was initially horrified. However, this Klim jacket is so comfortable, beautifully designed and perfect when on a motorcycle I'm impressed. I would honestly say that with correct base layer this will be used throughout the year with only exception being winter. Have been caught in rain, heavy showers & a mizzle but without any water penetration. It's certainly not the cheapest of the 'mesh' jackets but it'll keep you perfectly comfortable & safe straight off the peg. I highly recommend.
