Merlin Shenstone Air Textile Jacket - Black

This is the second Merlin Jacket I have bought, so first of all the jacket fits the same size as the Edale jacket (for me size S, I'm 172cm, 72kg).

About the jacket: It is well made, has nice finishes, and great overall quality. The main pro for me is the fit, it is absolutely spot on! Not too long, not too short.

Then, protection: It is an AA-certified jacket (another reason why I bought it) and it comes also with a back protector, which surprised me.

Finally, delivery: everything went flawlessly and super quick, I love that SBS includes everything in the price (shipment and customs). I had no problem buying stuff both from Italy and France.

Bought on Black Friday but as it's now winter, I've not worn it on the bike yet. The quality of the jacket seems good, though, although I notice the armour does move around in the arms and back pouches when trying it one. I'm 6'4", slim build and usually a 43-44" chest so I originally bought the XL but downgraded to an L as the larger size was quite "roomy" in the body section. Just waiting for the summer to come now!

Bought this for summer use on my triumph. Good fit and comfortable.
I am 6' and a large was great

First, on the product: this jacket is absolutely amazing! The look, fit and feel on the body is just awesome; it is very cool too which is what i got it for in the 1st place. The underlayer water shield (for those summer rains) doen't take away too much of the airflow; without it, the airflow is just amazing. I wear it with my Knox Urbane gloves which are also sublime. What can I say ... I'm sorted for the summer - or what's left of it, should i rather say.

Regarding SBS service - well... as expected, amazing! thank you.

Size down advice seems about right for average Joe.
My only niggle and why 4 stars is waterproof liner. Arms seem short giving impact to outer sleeve length when fitted. Sleeves perfect length for me without liner fitted.

Perfect for those hotter days, once you're over 30 mph it's as if you have A/C.
I haven't tried it with the water proof lining in yet but without it the jacket is very comfortable and very cooling.

I'm giving it five stars even though I haven't worn it on the bike (it's winter), however based on looks, fit and finish I am sure it will do exactly as intended and be ideal for hot weather riding, with the added flexibility of the water/wind proof liner.

The sizing was good (38" chest and a small fits perfectly) and it looks good on - the style in keeping with the retro look I was after. Intending to use it on a ride to Italy next year, taking a Scott waterproof to make it a three season jacket.

Sportsbikeshop were excellent as ever, with a very keen Black Friday price and next day delivery. Recommended!

Excellent jacket for the summer / spring. This is the first jacket I have tried that really helps with warm temperatures as it allows air flowing through the jacket, while also maintaining the usual safety protections. Comfortable to wear and looks good too.

Excellent product for hot summer days

I wanted a safe summer jacket, so I done a bit of research. I had never really heard of Merlin but this jacket kept popping up in all good reviews. So I took a punt and bought it, SBS price matched it as I found it cheaper else where. Well I love it, it feels heavy but feels light on and very comfortable. The liner is good for cooler mornings and without the liner you get a good air flow through the jacket without compromising safety. It looks good as well.

This is my third jacket from British brand Merlin and it's another great product. The Shenstone is a really good summer jacket that flows the air through nicely. It has a removable liner - not often seen on mesh jackets - which when installed offers a level of wind and water protection which is just exactly what you need with our unpredictable weather. The quality of the zips, fasteners and material is first class. Overall a really great jacket at a very reasonable price

This is a very stylish jacket for scrambler type bikes. Construction looks good and it fits really well. I've only used it without the lining so can't vouch for its water resistance. It flows air really well so fantastic on warm days. Plenty of pockets.

Others have said it's sized large, but I've found it perfect. I'm a 41 chest at 5'8" and the 42 is really a tailored fit.

Two improvements: it needs a second set of straps at the elbows to secure the armour and the collar would be better with a more adjustable closure like the old belstaff neck buckle.
