Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Airbag - Dark Grey Black

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating - and I hope that never comes! People who have crashed while wearing these have said they're superbly protective and I am happy to believe them.
The product is clearly well made and is easy to charge. It feels comfortable and even on my first ride it seemed to disappear in the sense that I forgot I was wearing it.
The help and advice from the staff at the Birmingham branch of Sportsbikeshop was tremendous. Friendly and knowledgeable.

Only worn twice but very easy to set up.
Comfortable to wear under my jacket with no restrictions in movement.
A bit heavy but weighed off against the protection it offers I can put up with that. Chest, Shoulders, Back and Rib areas all protected. Not a cheap item but if you have the money it's a no brainier really.
Pretty simple to use via the app, just need to keep an eye on the charging side of things.
Might be a bit warm in the summer but matched to a lighter summer jacket should be fine.
Overall a good purchase and should the worst happen it will pay for itself, definitely worth it.

This is one of those items that you never wish to test. However, if you are to test one, this is the one. It offers the most protection out of any Airvest. It is zip-and-forget, and I can wear it under my leathers and textiles. I like it, too. I can change it to track mode when I do track days. Once you have worn it a couple of times, you forget it's there. The quality of the airvest is a 10 out 10.

Good product. Sizing wise I ordered xxl. I'm 6ft3 and 17s and this is a good fit, it fits well under a xxl alpinestars halo jacket. Slightly heavy but no bulkier than the knox street vest with back protector. It's nice not having to tether myself to the bike like with the helite

Difficult to say excellent as it's not had to go off, but from just wearing it. It's great!!
Went medium which did with me it was a bit too small but wore it for an 800 mile weekend and it was perfect fit. Yes it's an extra layer and was a bit warm on the hot days, but what cost protection. I debated getting it for ages, but really glad I did. Discount code with SBS and usual great service!!

Did my research and this vest came way out way on top (eg shoulder protection).
Unfortunately I had a minor low speed accident. The airbag triggered as I was in mid-air and I landed with zero (and I mean zero injury or even soreness!). So bottomline I'm super impressed after my 'test'.
To have the vest recharged it has to go off to Alpinestarts in Italy (which Sportsbikeshop managed brilliantly for me). Turnaround time was approx two weeks door to door.
Then comes the 'but' ... total cost of a recharge was £175. To be clear I'm not complaining about the cost because the vest performed exceptionally and definitely worth the £175.
I'm just flagging up the cost because all research I did prior to purchase indicated it'd be around £100-£120.
In summary; highly recommend go buy one !!

Very comfortable to wear once use to its weight. Easy to use and update through the app. Quality product that is well made. Recommend.

Hardly notice wearing it, battery last for ages and the lights let you know when it's low. Real piece of mind.

After researching a few airbag vest products, this seemed to tick all the boxes. A one off cost, no subscription and nothing connected to the bike (pull cord etc). It also provides a high level of protection around the neck and shoulders in-addition to the chest and back.

The fit is good, but it feels like it is a bit small as it is shorter at the front than the back, but are extensive measuring this was correct.

Comfort wise it is a well made and comfy bit of kit. It does reduce the amount of ventilation across the body (wearing a mesh jacket) but that is mainly on the back where the electronics are kept.

Connection to the App for updates was easy.

Overall i feel this is a great product that I hope i don't have to use in anger.

Very pleased with this product so far although, of course, I have not yet tested it in anger. It is slightly heavier than I expected, but you don't really notice once it is on. Fits well under several of my jackets, once I took out the old back protectors. Even in the current very warm weather it hasn't been too hot with my jacket vents open.

I've been thinking about buying one of these for a while, already got a broken back from a previous lack of skill :() so thought it would be a good idea for peace of mind. The build quality is first rate, all the functions and set up are very easy to understand and after a few minutes you can't tell that you are wearing it. You might think that it's a big investment that nobody will see but ask any of the Moto GP or TT boys who've been saved by one and they'll tell you to crack on and buy one!!

The air bag vest is very comfortable to wear you don't know you are wearing it, the software is easy to set up and use I have only been able to use it three times and I hope I have no opportunity to see if it works a very good piece of safety kit.

I'm really impressed with the Tech-Air 5. I hope I'm never in a situation where it needs to deploy, but I feel much safer with it on.

If your looking for one of these get the next size up to what you normally would as they are a small fitting. I don't even know I am wearing mine when it's on, it feels just like a t shirt with the additional back protector. The app also gives you loads of info regarding you journey while wearing it if you remember to switch the app on. Me personally I don't want everything I am doing recorded in the cloud. Does it work well you have to trust the lights on the vest it's something I'd rather not find out the hard way but peace of mind counts for a lot. The cost at the super bike store wasn't much more expensive that the external air bag vests so it was a no brainier as I didn't want a lanyard attached to the bike plus they seem only any good in a hard shunt. This thing works at an impact speed of over 15mph in all directions.

Bought this airbag vest over the others due to the additional shoulder coverage. Used it for about 300 miles now and really like it. Feels very sturdy but comfortable to wear if a little warm as it's an extra layer. Easily solved with just a base layer beneath. Sizings are the same as my normal outer jacket but I did need to go up 1 size on my outer jacket to give sufficient space for the airbag expansion should it deploy. Top quality product.
