This item relies on friction alone to keep in place as they are hammered in. I fear if you slid along the road they would easily be displaced. Also, they have to be removed to take out the back wheel, not easy as they are a tight fit. Against R & G advice I have drilled & counterbored mine & fitted them with a through threaded rod the same as the front fork protectors.

Look smart and good protection although i could imagine they would be difficult to remove if you needed to take back wheel out as there hammerd in.
