Comfortable, Lightweight, Looks Great
27 March 2025 by Dale B
Great value for money. Comfortable, lightweight, and looks great. LEDs are useful for making you more visible at night and when riding in poor visibility.
I love this helmet 1. I love that it comes with a tinted visor 2. The lights look sick, definitely not a gimmick, also extremely helpful whilst looking through top box's at night (no more phone torch needed) 3. Works great with Cardo coms 4. Great sun visor coverage (although not the darkest) 5. Stable at higher speeds with little to no head buffering 6. Relatively quiet 7. Not the lightest, but not heavy at all especially considering the amount of features
This helmet is great for urban and commuting as it makes you that bit more visible while on your bikes especially when don't have a large bike and have that road presence
Great fit always, I wear spectacles so important feature is spec friendly slots. Air control for those hotter days for comfort. Pin-Lock to keep visor clear of misting up. Flip down sun visor to prevent glare. I have Senna Comms fitted which fits snuggly into helmet recess. Flashing lights to front and rear for higher visibility, a great safety feature. And finally it looks great, thanks Sportbikeshop you also saved me $93.00 from local shop prices.
I chose this helmet because Arai and Shoei were just outside my budget.
The fit of this helmet is like a tight glove! I followed the online size guide and measured my head myself. Right from the start, the helmet felt very tight, but it's just on the right side of snug. It's incredibly comfortable to wear. The drop-down visor is easy to operate, unlike some helmets where the chin button can be difficult to use, especially when stopped at a traffic light. This helmet uses a switch on top, which is great because you can operate it with both hands.
Contrary to some reviews, I found the ventilation to be sufficient. If I need extra airflow, I can slightly open the visor to let in more air.
The Pinlock system was very easy to install, thanks to the simple way the visor pops on and off the helmet.
The LED lights on the helmet are very bright, and the braking light function works perfectly. While some "old school" riders have teased me, saying it's unnecessary, I personally appreciate any extra visibility.
In theory, this helmet should be one of the best underrated helmets out there with it's built-in sun visor, anti-fog pin lock also included. The lights on the helmet look great and drivers give me a second look as I can be seen!
The wind noise is a bit too loud also I've purchased a Bluetooth headset and wear ear plugs to combat that.
It's light, great price so why 3 stars? Well the built-in sun visor steams up when riding making it unusable. I have the air vents open and it still steams up to a point where it's dangerous as I cannot see.
I have since orderer the VZ400 blacked out visor and clear pin lock however it is due to arrive this week. I will update my review once I have been out on the bike.
Having said that even if that does solve the issue the fact is the built-in sun visor will be nothing more than a gimmick.
Is the sun visor worked as it should, for me it would then be 5 stars..
It needs more air vents unless I have a faulty helmet. It's a shame as the design is brilliant and the helmet is light and fits my head better than my ruroc.
This helmet fits brilliantly and very comfortable, it's not too tight or loose just right, the pads are easy to take out to install the Cardo also has front light and back lights which acts like a motorbike lights, the price is not too much either, id say this is a perfect beginner helmet
Not used on the bike yet the lights look bright. The lid is well made don't notice the extra weight with the battery it took about 4 hours to break in and it fits just fine the lining is good quality. Changing the visor is not easy, I have tried twice to change this and not been successful good delivery from sportsbikeshop will buy from them again
I should have bought this a long time ago. I bought it for to be seen easier when braking with the flashing LED lights on back of helmet. Car's can see you through their rear mirrors as also has bright white LED lights on the front of helmet. I really like the design and comfort of the helmet. I wear glasses so they go on so much easier than my last helmet with the grooves designed for glasses and sunglasses.
Second one of these helmets and although it may not be the lightest or quietest it's a fabulous helmet , super comfy and isolates the outside world very well , ventilation isn't the best but it's sufficient for me , big plus is the internal sun visor that drops right down to the breath guard and the built in lights for visibility are a game changer !
This helmet is very light weight and quiet whilst riding but is a little noisy with the main visor open. The vents work very well and the chin vent is great at demisting and providing a cool flow of air to the riders face. An excellent helmet which has the added lights for visibility for other road users.
Love everything about the Shark Skwal i3 from the looks right down to the quality, The best bits are the safety lighting and pull down sun visor, makes me feel like Master Chief from Halo.
