Alpinestars Andes Air Drystar Textile Trousers - Ice Grey / Dark Grey / Black

These look like an ideal lightweight riding trouser for my daily commute. Obviously as soon as I received them the temperature absolutely plummeted so this is just a first impressions review rather than a long term useability point of view. I only have a couple of Alpinestars items but I was under the impression they are supposed to be top line but I have to say, I'm really disappointed in the quality/design of these trousers. Firstly, and I know this is getting more and more common, but I can't help thinking when you don't get hip armour included, the product has been manufactured down to a price. I'd be happier if they were $‌27.00 more expensive and came with "free" hip armour. The worst part though is the design of the inner trousers - honestly whoever thought that a single button halfway up the calf is a good design for keeping inner trousers in place has clearly never worn a pair of removable liner trousers. Getting them off is a right pain in the backside as the inners basically come out with your foot, which then means you have to tuck them back in, straighten them out etc. It probably sounds like I'm just trying to find fault but it really is such a ballache compared to my RSTs which are zipped in top and bottom and my Richas which have two buttons strategically placed to avoid this scenario. I'll probably just end up binning the inners as I'm planning on wearing these on the hottest summer days.
Having said that for $‌200.00ish they are worth keeping even if they don't get much use. I would advise to size up as well - I'm a 34W and went for the XL with the waist adjuster tabs about halfway.
Usual superb service from SBS so not really much point going into that.
