I purchased this to replace my ageing Interphone f5mc which I had for over 5 yrs with no issues. The reason for the upgrade was I needed the MESH feature to connect to a group. Installation and set up was straight forward, though I did need to update the firmware. The connector for the mic and speakers seemed unnecessarily fiddly! The plug in part connects at an angle, then there's a hinge type piece that folds down and locks the connector in place. Can I recommend that anyone who purchases this unit, leaves it in place while charging. Don't be tempted to remove it from your helmet because, as with mine, the plug in connector broke after 3 re charges.
I was also disappointed with the sound to the point where I thought my previous Interphone unit sounded a lot better. (Both had the upgraded hi fi speakers). The max volume isn't loud enough, with the music being utterly lost over 60mph. No matter what adjustments I made, I could not improve the sound quality or an adequate volume level. I have now returned the broken unit and replaced it with a Cardo Edge. Much much better.

Interphone mesh intercom

This Interphone Ucom8r was a replacement for a Sena 50R that kept switching off. Having had 2 50r's fail both less than 12 months old, I spoke to SBS in Boston and and had a chat to one of there guys, he said Sena had said it was faulty and that I could have a replacement or a refund, following a conversation on what was available that is compatible with Sena mesh systems he suggested the Interphone as I did not want another Sena. So far so good, it connected with the phone straight away, unlike the Sena, it connected with my SatNav and played music, directions and the mesh worked straight off ( although this was excellent on the Sena) if I have to give it a negative it is the sound is not quite as good as the 50r with their speakers., but more than good enough so far. As usual SBS their customer care was spot on!

How I've gone without an intercom for so long I don't know. The interphone ucom 8r has transformed ride outs for me and a few other in our group . Directions, warnings of potholes , diesel , cows muck , speed cameras etc can be passed amongst the group to help everyone , not to mention the banter. The ucom 8r allows you to answer calls, make calls, listen to music , GPS notifications and more it's super easy to set up and the mesh feature is great . The sound quality is brilliant and range is great too, the materials used are good , 3m adhesive pads to stick to your helmet are super strong, it's waterproof , has fantastic battery life of 18hrs , i really can't
fault it . Most places sell this at £229 but as always Sportsbikeshop have the best prices not to mention great delivery times

Excellent mesh unit

An easy to use unit with buttons big and obvious enough for gloved hands. Good sound quality and clear intercom, and being able to remove it for charging makes it convenient compared to the hard wired ones. Charge lasts a very long time, significantly longer than my fellow riders units. No FM radio but I didn't find that overly successful on my avant units, but phone apps can cover this. Feels a robust and well made unit.

Great volume. Easy to use, easy to set up. Being able to have music and conversations at the same time is pretty sweet. Charge last for ages. There's an app for it aswell which I didn't discover until recently.
Found it super easy to connect to friends.
