Our customers say…
Customers praise the robust quality and security of this ground anchor, noting its effectiveness with large security chains. Many recommend additional measures like metal putty or liquid metal for enhanced security. Installation is generally described as straightforward, though some suggest using a heavy-duty drill and a 17mm bit instead of the recommended 16mm. Overall, customers feel reassured about their bike's safety and find the anchor to be a worthwhile investment.

Chunky goodness
21 December 2024 by Iain G
I needed something to anchor my bike. This looked like a small anchor so I got this as I have limited space. This thing is huge! I got a 13mm chain and was thinking the anchor would be too small on reflection. Nope. Easily holds the chain.

The anchor itself is very easy to fix in place and once it's in, you use the ball bearings that come with it to hammer out any way of removing the mount in a hurry. Make sure you have put it where you want it!

Very happy, would and have recommended to a friend who has just bought a bike.

Ground Anchor, does what it says.

Good product, heavy bit of metal, would be nice if it had a 16mm drill bit with it to aid fixing, but apart from that this is the 2nd once purchased, and would buy again if needed.

Heavy Duty

Great product and very sturdy. Its a shame there's no details about what size drill is required (16mm by the way). I had to order some replacement anchor bolts as one of them came apart in the hole.

One solid ground anchor

Took advantage of the reduced price. Heavy duty and makes my other ground anchors look flimsy. No fixing instructions though. Graded it excellent for its robustness. This was regarded as an applicable security product by my insurance company..

Excellent, heavy duty ground anchor, probably stronger than the floor it's bolted to!

Problem bolts
24 April 2024 by Anonymous
This is a substantial ground anchor. I had some trouble with the fixings. Holes were drilled to the right depth and radius, but the bolts weren't biting. SBS arranged new fixings, but in the meantime I got some better quality ones from Screwfix. They did the job!
Pleased with the end result!

Mammoth ground anchor

Would have got a 5* if the securing bolts were a better standard. Bought some from Screwfix to replace them. This is the second anchor I have purchased, very strong and good quality. Can accommodate a large Oxford security chain. Well worth the cost at this sale price.

    January 17, 2018

If you take the measurements of your chain, the measurements of the ground anchor are below - The dimensions inside the inner clasp where the chain will be located are approximately as follows: Height from top of base to underneath of clasp = 45mm. Width of clasp opening at base = 85mm. Width of clasp opening at top (beneath clasp)= 50mm.

  • What is the diameter of the plate that is fixed to the concrete?

  • What size drill bit is needed to attach it to a concrete floor?

  • Can you attach the anchor to a brick wall?

The dimensions inside the inner clasp where the chain will be located are approximately as follows: Height from top of base to underneath of clasp = 45mm. Width of clasp opening at base = 85mm. Width of clasp opening at top (beneath clasp)= 50mm.

  • I am searching for a great outdoor security post/anchor, and just don't understand how these will work - could thieves not just unbolt the anchor from the ground??

    August 25, 2011

The ground anchors are supplied with hardened steel ball bearings. Once the bolts are secured to the ground, the balls bearings are tapped into the screw head preventing access by allen key etc. Some models of anchors have further inserts which tap in to an undercut directly above where the screw is located.
