HJC V60 - Ofera Green

Having tried and owned a number of open face, retro and the usual fare of full face and flip up lids, you notice the quality differences in respect of noise, ventilation and comfort. This V60 ticks the comfort box very well. It's pretty much spot on sizing to their other helmets. I'm a medium in the RPHA range, medium with this. Ventilation wise, it doesn't have exhaust ports but doesn't seem to suffer from it. Realistically this is a 3 season lid as it does let in a fair amount of air, which is a good thing. Noise wise, you really do need earplugs. Think race lid levels of noise and you're about there. It's to be expected with such a wide visor aperture. I use Baruffaldi Speed 4 goggles on occasions as well as using the stock light tinted visor, both work very well. Overall, very pleased, the lid looks good (imho), fits and feels good, just a little more noise suppression and it'd be a 5-star lid. Solid 4-stars though.

It's not perfect. My gloss black lid has a thumbnail sized spot where the paint and lacquer finish is too thin to hide the base material. In every other respect it's up there with a Shoei Ex Zero. Beautifully quilted interior. Smooth, positive visor mechanism that goes really low. Peak in the box. As for fit, I'm 57cm and medium oval but with a slightly narrow face that sometimes causes me trouble with noise generated by slight air gaps to the side of my eyes. I have a small Arai but this lid fits more comfortably and securely in medium than any other I've tried. The smooth exterior also helps make it relatively quiet up to 60mph. A lovely piece of kit.
