Merlin Outlaw D3O Explorer Smock Textile Jacket - Black

Looks good, feels good and has all the aspects of the best out there.
Waterproof and warm, can't ask for more.
Even doubles up as a great casual jacket when the pads are out. Easy to put on as well which did surprise me.

I have always liked the look of this type of jacket but the problem with them is they are always a real pain to get on and off, especially in a confined or busy area - it's not a very elegant process and very easy to inadvertently elbow a passerby in the face.

Once it's on though it's a decent bit of kit. Feels pretty lightweight but I've worn it on my 30 mile motorway commute in temps down to 6 degrees and been perfectly warm. Haven't had a chance to test the waterproofing yet but it will only be a matter of time I'm sure.

I have to say I have a few bits of Merlin kit and I honestly think their stuff is really underrated, especially for the money.

This is good quality piece of kit that is well made and will be good for winter and summer alike. I'm an L in T-Shirts and got a 3XL in the smock and that feels like a perfect fit for me.
