Cardo 45mm Audio Set

These are better than the standard speakers but they're not the life-changing, hi-fi extravaganza that some reviews would have you believe. Realistically, you've got speakers in a helmet in the wind, so it's never going to be 'amazing', esp when wearing earplugs. That said, they are definitely more powerful, with more bass and don't distort as the 40mm do at very high volumes. Placement is everything - in my RX7 GP, I had to trim the foam to get the 40's to fit, then again, had to take 1-2mm (the 45's are actually 42.5mm dia at the base) to get them to sit flush in the helmet and not exerting any pressure on my ears. It took a couple of attempts to get them perfectly placed and now, I can listen to an audiobook/podcast easily at 70-80 mph and rock out if I really want to. I could do that before using the 40's but at high volumes there was some distortion and they felt a little 'strained' or 'tinny'. This is on a 1250 GSA with a stock screen (with an RX7 helmet), so not the quietest/least windy riding environment. The 'sound profiles' were already unlocked on my Cardo App, so that element of marketing was completely wasted. Would I buy again...that's tricky. Probably yes, because even a marginal improvement (I'd estimate they're no more than 10% better than the 40's) is better, esp on a long day on the bike, especially when going to the time/cost/effort of fitting a class-leading intercom to a helmet. I don't consider them value for money, and the JBL 'image' as an audiophile company is more marketing than anything else. What's my parting thought? Place the original speakers perfectly and you'll be very impressed. If your speakers aren't fitted properly, then fitting 45's isn't going to make that much better. If you fit them perfectly, they make long journeys a much better experience.

If you have invested in a Cardo intercom system you will find that the audio speakers provided are inadequate and I could hardly hear output over 30mph. So found these on SBS, ordered and they kindly fitted them for me the next day. The difference is amazing, clear and good quality. Therefore I would consider this upgrade a necessity. It shouldn't be but sadly it is. Thank you Sportsbikeshop.

Used these to upgrade my GT Air 2 Sena SRL2.
Not something to attempt without having all the gear and some electrical experience as they need wires chopping and changing, (it is not plug and play as these have different plugs)
The speaker fit in the Air2 is tight, but - the end result was spot-on (for me anyway) a big improvement over the stock speakers.
Note: The 40mm dia. ones would fit better in the Air 2 recesses, but my choice was these for that extra bit of oomph etc.

The standard 40mm speakers of my Cardo packtalk were useless at anything other than walking pace. The upgraded 45mm jobbas are excellent, use the cardo app sound enhancement setting and you can tailor the output. Brilliant upgrade.

After purchasing a new helmet I though I would treat myself to the new JBL speaker upgrade for my Cardo Packtalk Bold headset.
Very pleased with my purchase and now wished that I had done so much earlier. Beautiful clear sound and more depth to the music. even the wife sounds better !......

As I'm getting slightly older mid to LATE 50s I did love to using the original cardo ear thingy things these are a fantastic upgrade so much clearer and more depth bring on the 2023 season
