Ucom16 Bluetooth and Net intercom

The installation into the helmet was straightforward with sufficient pieces to suit my particular helmet.
Pairing with my phone (Samsung Galaxy) and the SatNav (TomTom) was very simple.
In operation, all the controls I need are straightforward and intuitive.
I would recommend this product to other bikers who wish to communicate with other devices and their mates whilst out riding.

Great intercom

I chose this one to replace a failed integrated Neotec 2 Senna. The Bluetooth intercom quality is great, the buttons are much better to find given their size and the button operation is the same as the integrated Senna. The mesh quality is not as reliable as the Bluetooth but I have discovered there are 9 channels so have yet the try it on the rest. The price was far less than a comparable Senna so great value.

Good But Design Could Be Much Better

Good waterproof intercom with numerous connectivity options.
GOOD POINTS:
MESH 2.0 connectivity is absolutely fantastic - a lot more user friendly than Bluetooth and sound quality is much better. The UNITE app is very good and easy to use. If you cannot be bothered to remember different button functions on the device, the UNITE app provides much more user friendly alternative to operate the unit.
The MESH 2.0 is the same technology as what is used by Senna, so this Interphone gives you the option to mix mesh units from two different brands. In contrast to Senna units though, this Interphone is actually waterproof.
BAD POINTS:
I've had mixed results with trying to connect it via Bluetooth with older Interphone units. With just two intercoms, it worked absolutely fine, but with the 3rd one added, every so often there was a lot of distortion in the sound and we had to restart all 3 units to go back to normal.
Also, when used in the MESH mode, the battery drains pretty quickly. If you are doing full 14h days of riding and using MESH, it is likely that you will have to charge the unit mid-day. Bluetooth is a lot easier on the battery but it is not as clear or easy to use as MESH.
Another negative is that the U-COMM16 unit is hardwired to the harness which goes into your helmet, meaning that there is no easy way to unclip the unit from your helmet and charge it somewhere else.
Moreover, what is the point of the external battery if you can only charge it if it is connected to the helmet? I wanted to buy a second battery so I could charge it in my backpack, while the first battery is used to power my unit. This is not possible, as the battery can only be charged while connected to the unit.
OVERALL:
If Interphone made the unit removable from the helmet, and allowed for the batteries to be charged without them being connected to the intercom, this would be the best intercom on the market. But as it is right now, it gets 4 stars from me.

Good piece of kit

After extensive reviews of similar units I went for the Interphone Ucom 16. It offers all the features of other similar products, will connect to Sena and, unlike Sena, is waterproof, an essential in the UK weather. Easy to fit to my flip top helmet and so far seems to work very well.

Really great bit of kit! Easy to set up and understand and comes with all possible bits you could need to mount it and use to its full potential.
Can easily understand each other and listen to music at the same time.
Will be buying another in the near future.

Bought this because I thought it was about time I answered the phone, argued with the SatNag or talked to the other riders I sometimes go out with. And it allows me to do exactly that. I had a slight issue with the unit not connecting to the app on my phone, but yet again SBS came to the rescue (Granddaughter couldn't fix it!). They spent plenty of time spent with me, making sure that all was working.
Sound levels seem fine, even with earplugs in, and the unit/app interface seems pretty smooth.
It was easy to fit to my Shark flip-front helmet, with the most time spent trying to get the lining back into place. As has been mentioned, my one fault is that the unit gets stuck on to a helmet using 3M tape, and it seems fairly permanent. It does have a clip-on base bracket, but that puts the unit at about 45 degrees and it doesn't feel secure. My old Sena unit was removable, allowing me to change helmets and still use the intercom.
All in all, a good product at a reasonable (SBS) price. Here's hoping it lasts....

Excellent piece of kit

Bought to update my Interphone avant as I needed something that would integrate better with the TFT on my RT. Got a second unit for the wife who has her own bike. We are both impressed with these units, very clear sound with no background noise that we had with the avant units. Also, no drop out when the wife was out of sight with three cars between us. Situations that would cause the avant to struggle. Only downside is it isn't removable so the helmet is effectively connected for charging. A small price to pay for this excellent unit.

Replaced our ageing Interphone tour with the new Interphone Ucom16 Bluetooth Intercoms. Quality as with my previous set but sound even clearer with the 40mm headphones. Also comes with Bluetooth 5 which gives them even better clarity and range The relatively new standard of mesh to extend them even further as a group of riders.
Oh and has an even better battery although I never had a better issue with the previous set. Worth the five stars and don't regret forking out the extra money
