Have been using Optimates for many years for my bikes. It is a great reliable product. This model has more output and is used on a heavy duty car battery fitted to a vehicle that is rarely used...It is reasonably large in size compared to other rivals is the only issue (if that is an issue to anyone) but that makes it easy easy readable.
I bought an Optimate 6 to keep the battery on my 1989 Porsche 928 GT conditioned NOT realising that it was only suitable for Li/ion batteries !!!. Called the shop and spoke to Bradley who was very understanding and helpful !. We arranged for the return of it and he shipped me out an Optimate 5 which is the right one for my car - it arrived the NEXT DAY !. Very happy !. GREAT SERVICE AND SUPPORT !. I already have an Optimate 4 for my motorbike, so when I saw this Optimate 5 at a discounted price I didn't hesitate to buy it. The charger is simple to set up and gives you a visual guide of the diagnostics and the result of its test and charge cycle. I strongly recommend it.

Forgot your battery throughout the winter? OptiMate 5 Select will recover it from deep discharge and optimally recharge it. Then it will check that the charge delivered is the best possible before checking its status, at a glance. It will then maintain your battery at full charge safely for months at a time, prolonging its life by up to 400%.
Suitable for all types of rechargeable 6V and 12V lead-acid batteries: filler cap types; absorbed glass mat (AGM or "MF"); valve regulated (VRLA); GEL-electrolyte. Just connect OptiMate 5 6V/12V to your battery, the rest is automatic. Electronically protected against user errors.
Delivered with two interchangeable SAE connection sets, one with clamps for bench charging, the other with in-line protection fuse and eyelet terminals for permanent connection to the vehicle's battery to allow easy reconnection of charger when necessary.
