Richa Rain Flare Jacket

I work nights, I currently commute 35miles from Brighton up the A23/M23 (via Gatwick) to Merstham.

I've not had one issue with other road users - I say I can assume the effectiveness of this jacket to be seen at night!

Has kept me dry, too.

I might look a bit like a dork wearing it, but, I'm okay with that.

I commute all year on the bike and was looking for a hi-viz waterproof jacket for the dark winter months. This is an Over-Jacket, it is not breathable and has NO armour protection but is perfect for what I needed. I went up 1 size as I didn't want a snug fit, It is most definitely waterproof with a double storm flap over the zip that velcro's shut with 2 good sized outer pockets that are velcro closed too, the cuffs are elasticated and pull over gloves quite easily. Now to the jackets party piece, the Hi- Viz of this jacket is prenominal, when headlights strike this jacket you are illuminated like Blackpool lights. It's like a bright headlight, incredible. Wore it last night riding around town and lots of pedestrians looking at me gave me assurance it was effective. Also saw myself in CCTV and I was very visible. However, worn over my textile it made me feel incredibly hot and sweaty as there are no vents, is this the price of safety? It was a warm evening but the lack of vents makes it suitable for colder weather only.

Although the jacket is waterproof and keeps you dry the best thing about it is the visibility it gives to other motorists to indicate you are riding a Motorbike at Night. Especially in the city centres or semi urban areas. Another excellent product by Richa.

Not a bad fit over my normal jacket which is a size 54 so I ordered a large size in the Richa. Cuffs are a bit tight, but I suspect they need to be if it's raining hard. Used just the once to help cut out the cold and as I was travelling in the dark I thought it can only help to make sure I'm seen. Neck aperture is not suited if you've got lots of layers under as I couldn't zip it all the way up. but I plan to carry it as a layer/waterproof to use and if riding in dull/dark conditions. Sportsbikeshop's service is as we've come to expect; 5 star.

Another excellent product from Richa. The jacket is well made, a good fit, I ordered my normal size and it went over my existing jacket. It is definitely waterproof. Rode for about 40 minutes in a monsoon and I was still dry. I like the mesh lining and the elasticated cuffs, two large top opening waterproof pockets on the outside so you can put stuff like wallet or ID badge in there and you don't have to unzip the whole jacket.

It has a velcro storm flap at the front which is generous and works well to keep out wind and rain.

You can see the reflection in your mirrors when car lights hit you, so it has to be increasing my visibility to drivers.

As an all year round biker this bit of kit is an excellent addition for commuting in the dark.

Yet another great jacket from Richa. The illumination is fantastic.

Excellent bit of safety wear, if you ride in the dark or any poor visibility then this is a must have. Drivers literally look twice at you in the dark as they can't believe how well it reflects their lights. Also, as well as being waterproof acts as an excellent wind proof layer for those chillier journeys.
