I have tried other racks in the past to carry a top box but they have never seemed to truly be up to the job until now . These brackets are of a serious gauge metal . Very nicely finished and an absolute piece of cake to fit compared to the competition . The brackets have pre drilled holes on top that line up very nicely with the top box base plate I purchased. . Overall I'm very pleased and would definitely consider a shad bracket set up in the future for my next bike .
