Fitted quite easily & Canyon bags go on very w
30 May 2023 by KazB
These are the 2nd set of these pannier holders that we have bought having 2 bikes and both have fitted on pretty easily so maybe Givi have listened to previous feedback. As usual with fitting pannier holders, they do need a little pulling or pushing in order to get them to line up fully and then the first time you turn the quick release bolts they are quite stiff. However after that they turn much more easily and the panniers feel very sturdy. The Canyon soft bags that we have fit perfectly and clip on literally within 2 seconds and come off in about 3 - an extra second for putting in and turning the key. Highly recommend these and Sportsbikeshop were as brilliant as ever!

Not the best fit I've ever seen !
30 October 2021 by Anonymous
Not a reflection of SBS more of Givi manufacturing , real sod to fit comfortably and still seems to be leaving parts under a great deal of strain the quick disconnect is not something I'm likely to try anytime soon . As stated by other reviewers the 45 degree hook mechanism on the Alaska panniers doesn't seem up to much . I've just not fitted it .The bolts and spacers all seem to be black anodised steel , I'll be replacing them with stainless as soon as I can find sources for the right sizes , fitting the Alaka panniers was interesting , the spherical mounts had to be unscrewed to get the panniers to fit , I eventually found a reference to fitting spacers behind the mounts in a part of the fitting instructions packed with the 45 degree hooks , problem is the supplied spacers are the wrong diameter and - Yes they stop the panniers from being fitted , I made my own spacers from some stainless washers , problem solved. Overall they're a pig to fit but when finally sorted and the panniers on they do look the part . Recommendation yes they work and yes they are OK but unless you have good tools and a lot of time to tweak the fit buy something else . With a 40% discount on the Alaska panniers it's financially sound but if the panniers were at full price I think I'd be saying thanks but no thanks .

The last time I ever buy from Givi...
21 April 2021 by Alex
Firstly, this review is no reflection on Sports Bike Shop. Service was great and the product arrived very quickly as always.

I bought this to mount Givi Alaska 36l to my BMW F750GS 2019. It probably took me a few man days to eventually get them mounted and the end result was disappointing. At every stage I had issues and immense frustration. The hook system of the Alaska panniers will not work with this mount, I tried every combination of setup and the panniers won't clip into place when the hooks have been screwed to the side of the panniers (in either left or right position and with or without the spacers provided).

The instructions are disgraceful and very confusing. They might make sense to someone in Givi but not to the customer. A sheet of paper with "Scusi" written on it would have been more helpful. For the instructions alone this deserves the 1 star.

The fittings are clunky, not attractive and poorly designed. When attached some fittings are loose (they need some extra spacers). The most ridiculous issue I had was the instructions getting me to remove the luggage rack, disconnect and remove my indicator lights and a chunk of the back of the bike to add some brackets to the the indicator lights that serve no purpose at all. What is even worse is that the the fittings are poorly designed they don't attach the indicators properly back to the bike, they just droop down to mimic my sad face. I ended up leaving these fittings off in the end after all the hassle of disassembling a load of my bike (which I hope hasn't voided my warranty!). Never good to finish with a bag of extra bits! Once I had the remaining fittings in place, the mounts wouldn't then attach on either side, I needed to undo all the bolts again and bend/manhandle the rack on and then try to tighten the bolts again. I'm afraid to even use the quick release for removing the mounts as I fear it'll never go back on again. these are just some of my woes in trying to install the mounts.

I suspect no one at Givi has actually tried to fit these to a F750GS, if they did they'd have seen all the issues.

Now that I have the panniers mounted I can't say that I've any confidence at all about actually carrying anything in the panniers.

This products is up there with one of my worst ever purchases. Walk away, just buy the BMW Vario cases and save yourself the pain or just buy a different bike if you really want aluminium panniers. I'm tempted to drive to Givi HQ and throw them through their front window!

Panniers may need a fitting kit to work
16 December 2020 by Joe D
I use the dolimiti top loading panniers and I had the correct locking pin fitting on my old bikes rails. as it was cheaper than buying al new bmw luggage I bought these.
But though it says the dollomiti cases are compatible it's not obvious they need a fitting kit to do so which is not included in these rails.
The quality is great but the instructions leave a lot to be desired unfortunately with some steps missing.
They look as good on the bike as the bmw one and I think can carry more weight.

The rails have a quick release system so they can be removed and attached with ease leaving only the inconspicuous anchor points. Depending on the specific bike, the rails can be may or may not additionally require the Givi Monorack arms (allowing the option of adding a top box) to mount the rails.
