Kriega OS Base - KTM 1090

This review will include the base and 2 x 18 litre panniers which I bought as a set. I bought these to fit onto my KTM SA 1290s 2021 as I wanted a set of panniers to go touring in Europe this coming summer. I've used different configurations with tail packs and roll bags of varying sizes and had actually looked at options of hard and soft panniers with metal racks as well but just didn't like the weight of metal racks and the offset look of panniers to accommodate the exhaust.
I then realised that I actually didn't need 70+ litres of storage capacity even when camping so decided to go with these panniers and a Kriega 30 litre tailpack which is plenty.
The base is a simple design and once in place is secure and doesn't move. I leave this on my bike all the time as its fairly discreet and doesn't get in the way but its easy enough to remove and re-fit when needed.
The panniers are the usual bomb proof quality from Kriega with roll top closure and inner waterproof liner. I tested this configuration for a short trip to iron out any niggles and I would say that the panniers actually sit better when they are full. If they are only partially full, they sag and can get quite close to the exhaust (though they never touched with a clearance of about 1-2 inches). Also, removing/ fitting the panniers can be fiddly so would suggest leaving them on the bike. I packed my camping kit in these panniers which stayed on the bike and used my tailpack which is easily removable for the items that were valuable and I needed to take into the hotel room and ferry cabin. I've never had an issue with security when touring using soft panniers so happy to leave my camping kit on the bike.
At speed when making good progress on the motorways, the base and panniers are rock solid and don't move. You can use straps to tighten everything and cinch it all in so its sturdy, secure and completely waterproof. It dissent get in the way when riding or getting on/ off the bike and in general looks smart, tidy and equal on both sides of the bike.
Would definitely recommend.

Streamlined bags look great on the bike. I was looking to avoid the bulk of panniers and a frame.
