Verified Customer Reviews for Metzeler Tourance Next
Got this tyre to replace the front on my Triumph Tiger. I had to stick with Metzeler as my rear has only done a few thousand due to a road side replacement - and I didn't want to bin this just yet.
Had about 7k out of the old front, but these are known to wear badly, so this will be my last.
SBS have two variants listed, took a while to get the answer but 486100 is BMW GS OE on the new BMW R 1200 GS and 490826 is Triumph Tiger OE.
Metzeler Tourance Next - 120/70 19 (60V)
- Derived from renowned sport-touring tyres
- Best wet performance in the Enduro Street segment
- Patented mixing process giving top performance compounds
- Rounded profile in the half-lean portion, and flatter toward the centre
- Sidewalls give shock absorption to help prevent lock up with ABS systems
Metzeler Tourance Next tyres feature a dual-compound tread layout whose specifications derive directly from the expertise gained in developing Metzeler's renowned sport-touring tyres. The two main project goals concern the supremacy in the wet and mileage. This combination was the initial step to obtain a generation of compounds, whose top performance have been reached through Metzeler's patented mixing process, capable to obtain an unmatched level of homogeneity of the components dispersed in the polymeric matrix, contributing to tyre durability and wear regularity. To achieve the best wet performance in the Enduro Street segment, including critical conditions like wet cornering grip and panic braking, Metzeler designed a blend of high dispersion silica, high-performance synthetic polymers mixed with proper resins and plastifying agents. The profiles of Tourance Next have been developed along with the structure to maximise its street and touring-oriented behaviour. The profile is rounded in the half-lean portion, and flatter toward the centre.
Sidewalls feature a more rounded profile that coupled with a stiffer internal structure lends an improved damping capacity aimed to improve the riding comfort, the shock absorption when challenged on dirt roads and most importantly the coupling with ABS systems, whose pulsating effect needs a proper absorption of the forces by the tyre to enhance the anti-lockup effect.
The front tyres are made of a high silica content (>50%) blended with different typologies of polymers and resins whose recipe provides remarkable handling and both braking and cornering grip. The tread pattern layout ensures that full silica compound is available as soon as the trajectory tips from straight into lean, providing great riding confidence and feelings of safety. Tourance Next front tyres feature a high stiffness structure made of rayon fibres ensuring stability, even at high speed, and when fully loaded with luggage and a passenger.
