Like a reassuring protective cuddle for your back

I tried this against two other protectors from Knox and Forcefield, utilising Sportsbikeshop's excellent delivery and return service and found this one worked the best for me in terms of comfort/reassurance. Feels like a very high quality item and gives some extra peace of mind on the bike. I have been able to fit it under my existing single piece leather jackets which were not 'sized up' to accommodate additional back protection.
Peering through the comfort mesh liner to the armour you can also see that the level 2 protection has passed the optional cold temperature tests. You can further enhance the item by adding a tailbone protector via Velcro to the bottom of the protector (which I've not yet done). Or turn the protector into a vest by adding in the KR-C chest protector, which is what I've done to mine very easily. I know I'm wearing back protection with this on but I have not found it to get uncomfortable or hot.
At 5,8 and average build I was somewhere in the middle of the small/medium size. Although they share the same length back protector I found the medium to have a more comfortable range of waist band adjustment.
An excellent product that I'll not go on the road without.

Alpinestar kr--3 back protector

A good back protector, only bought while I wait for my made to measure back protector from Impact Armor to arrive from the states.

The good.
Light, removable shoulder straps, kidney protection, breathable so not too sweaty.

The bad
No coxix protection, there is an additional velcro add on but it's not the same as having a proper tail to the back protector.
No scapula protection, seems to be common issue with most modern back protectors. I broke my scapula at Cadwell and I always want protection.

All that said, I think it's the bast of the bunch, not too thick, but good spine protection. Will keep as a spare once my replacement one from impact armor turns up.

Great back protector

I previously had a Forcefield Pro but after 8 years of use felt it was time for an upgrade. I was attracted to this one because of the rib protection & I love it. Very comfortable & well worth the investment. Being Alpinestars, construction & materials are excellent quality & it looks very cool too. Highly recommended.

More than a Back Protector

The coverage offered by this product goes way beyond a standard back protector. The hip protectors can be moved by repositioning the waist belt as well as being slid along the belt to cover exactly where you need them. The whole unit is well made and comfortable to wear.

Wrap around protection

Quite simply and amazing product at an amazing price. No rider should be without one. Great spine coverage from nape to waist. The rib protector design is so simple and so effective. It's flexible, comfortable and can be worn under any jacket due to the braces design. I quite simply won't be without it as it provides so much confidence.

After researching a range of different back protectors, I decided on the KR-3. It was not a disappointment. The fit is good and it is very comfortable. The back protector looks robust and of good quality. The only slight niggle is how the chest straps attach. It is the only area of the back protector that looks a little cheap.

Great bit of kit, comfy when racing even in this warmer weather we are having. Not the cheepest but the only one I could find with kidney protection and pierce protection on spin.
Also great service from Sportbikeshop as usuaul.

Brilliant confidence builder

I brought this back protector along with the KR-C chest protector. I would highly recommend this to anyone, fits like a glove, gives me a lot more confidence when corning hard and trying to knee drag. Best back protector I've ever worn, looks great and feels solid like it was made to last. Haven't crashed in it yet so don't know how it holds up it the department but I'm pretty confident it would protect me as designed.
