Admittedly I just use it to maintain my battery when laid up, but it's robustly made and ensure my bike fires up each and every time.
This optimate was needed as an old one finally packed up. The dual facility is particularly useful, since I have both CANbus and conventionally wired systems to keep on charge. The SPORTSBIKESHOP deal was a good one, being much cheaper than any others that I could find.
I bought this as a replacement for an Oxford battery maintainer. This unit is more robust by far. It's easy to use, just plug it in and it does its thing. The supplied instructions are very poor. I had to use YouTube to find out what the various flashing lights meant, hence the (4). Otherwise it's excellent. Note - not for lithium battery charging as far as I can see.
Managed to recover a battery another brand refused to attempt charging. Great bit of kit.
Sturdy build and easy to use
Brilliant Optimate perfect for my BMW R1250Rs I already had a din socket plug so went with this one it worked out cheaper.
To get it working on canbus turn it on don't connect to bike just short out the leads for a few seconds then plug in the din socket lead and stick into the bike hay presto yer bike will start charging
Great little charger. This is the second unit I've purchased to cover my 2 motorcycles as I was so pleased with my first purchase.
Good bit of kit, easy to set up and use.
Feels good quality and so easy to use connect. Plug in,done, as simple as that. Two ways to connect, crocodile clips or permanent battery lead I'm opting for permanent so don't have to take out the battery
Needed a replacement for a previous (different manufacturer) charger which stopped working. This is solid, well put together unit. I have attached it to my bike & know it will look after my battery.
Good bit of kit, provides all the info you need and keeps battery in top condition. Good solid connectors between bike and charger, which I've previously found flimsy on other brands.
I now have two of these one has been on my BMW K1600Gt for four years never had battery problems. Purchased BMW nine so now on this bike. Easy to set up and use good build quality. Would recommend to any biker.
I've owned the very early version of this for years, bought in the 90 I believe.
And still going strong.
I needed an other charger as I have several bikes.
I bought another brand similar to Optimate .
Since I've used that I've had two motorcycle batteries fail prematurely.
Never had that problem using my old Optimate .
So I decided to bin the other brand and invest in the more updated Optimate 4 Duel charger.
Accessories which are supplied seam excellent quality,
And so far this charger is preforming very well indeed.
I literally connect and forget and let this charger take care of your battery.
Highly recommended
Excellent piece of kit and arrived quickly.
Fantastic product, does exactly what it says.
Quality is unparalleled (I had oxford charger previously and you can see how inferior it is from a build quality perspective)
Easy to install, lots of cable length so can be fitted to the bike appropriately.
Clean display
Great piece of kit to trickle charge a battery on the bike over winter without frying it. Easy to use, easy to read, simples.
New bike means new life support.
In stock and available when required from the shop.
Does its job mains lead is long so into 240v is flexible but lead from unit could and should be just a tad longer. More difficult to connect than old style unit. Overall happy with it.
I've used Optimates for years. You connect your bike up to it and never have to worry about a flat battery. There's a new school of thought which says you shouldn't need them, that it's bad for batteries to be topped up constantly - to which I say, rubbish! These chargers are more important than ever when you consider battery sapping trackers which most new bikes have to be fitted with (if you're gonna get a reasonable insurance quote!). Why 4* then, not 5? Well this'll be about the sixth Optimate I've bought over the years, to replace ones that have broken or been gifted to family. Compared to my existing, original Optimate 4, which is admittedly around 15 years old, this latest gen costs twice the amount, feels cheap and engineered down (it's half the weight, honestly!) and came with less fittings in the box. Still does the job though, brilliantly as ever.
