AGV K5-S - Mono Matt Black

My first helmet as I'm a new rider and was hesitant on which helmet to go for. Took the gamble of ordering online after a mate advised me to purchase any gear through Sportsbikeshop and all I can say is I'm impressed. The helmet fits a treat, it's so comfortable to wear on longer rides, there's not much wind noise and it's exactly how it's described. Delivery and customer service is next to none and have ordered a few extra goodies since.

Bought this to test ride a few new bikes. Riding in nice, sunny weather it was great. The padding is soft and falls like something Zapp Brannigan would wear. The field of vision is huge, and the sun visor doesn't have that annoying horizon band. Add the pinlock and no fog at all. Plus the visor removes easy for cleaning.

When I picked up the new bike it was high winds and lashing rain. However, even with the vents open the helmet didn't let in any water at all.

Only two slight niggles I found. One, the sun visor can fog if your sitting in traffic - crack the visor or move and ypur fine. Two, the sun visor controls are a bit fiddle to get user to - got to give it to Shark for their sliding mechanism on that one.

Overall though this is a fantastic helmet. I went for pearl white, which is bright and has reflective sparkles, but there are other options too. It also has 3 clip colours that actually do something:
Red is normal and let's your visor be down, up or up a bit. Blue is Race and has the visor up or down. Green is Urban and let's your visor be in one of five positions. So very configurable.

Finally decided to replace my Shoei GT Air. I took the plunge and ordered the AGV K5 S.
I actually love the helmet and it just seems to fit so much better than the Shoei ever did. It is comfortable and has plenty of vents to keep the air flowing through the helmet.
I only rated it as good instead of excellent because there are a couple of things that niggle me.
Firstly the front chin vents are really good on this helmet, that said it is actually quite difficult to open and close the vent whilst the helmet is on, it doesn't massively bother me as I always have the vents open, if you like to be able to open and close them whilst riding then you may struggle to do it with this helmet.
The only other thing is the drop down visor takes a lot of getting used to and compared to the Shoei it doesn't feel as slick moving it up and down and the actual drop down visor doesn't feel as sturdy but hey this helmet is a couple of hundred pounds cheaper than the Shoei.
All in all a great helmet, as long as you don't mind the couple of issues I mentioned then go for it,

Nice looking helmet, looks about as close to the Pista without putting a mortgage payment down. I'm about a 58 1/2 head size - went for Large and its a good fit, not too tight so as it makes you feel sick or gives you a headache in about 5 minutes, but tight enough it wont move about and will be perfect when it when breaks in a bit. Drop down visor works well, nice quality padding, light, cuts through the wind nicely. Lots of vent options which I love.
Only downside I would say is the visors are so damn expensive. Over twice that of my other Scorpion lid. Crazy prices just for a visor.

The fit is perfect it is extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of time great internal sun visor little to no wind noise at all great helmet highly recommended

This is my second time owning this helmet. First one saved my life in a head on collision where my head hit the windscreen.
Comfortable to wear, MS fits me snuggly where as other brands M are slightly loose once worn in. Internals are easy to remove to be washed. Wind noise is average I would say. Cooling vents are good and keep you head cool, even in 35'c weather.
This design is great and the Matt finish looks fantastic.

Great product out of the box. Comfortable, fairly light and behaves well at speed. Sun visor is a bit flimsy and like to come out of the mount once in a while, but once you learn how to live with it and push it in every now and then to prevent the issue, it becomes amazing lid for the money. Service from SBS amazing as always.

Very happy with this purchase. It's comfortable, there's very little wind noise and the chin guard stops any bugs from getting in.

Love the helmet owned avg prior only thing I will say is ordered a medium large as my large avg was very slightly loose after use and I think they have changed the shape lightly as found very tight even if I swapped out the padding to my large ftom the old helmet
