Our customers say…
Customers generally praise XCP for its protective qualities, particularly against rust, and highlight its durability. However, many found the application process a bit cumbersome, noting that the product is quite thick and needs to be warmed for better distribution. It tends to pool and leaves a greasy residue unless wiped. Some customers suggest using a cloth or brush for more precise application. Despite minor drawbacks, XCP is recommended, especially for long-term protection.

XCP Orange

Use this on bolts. It's thick and gloopy and sticks to bolts forming a good coating.

Peace of mind
24 January 2023 by Alasdair
Bought to treat a nearly new xsr700 that I just acquired, reading online they get corrosion on swing arm and frame due to poor standard of finish. Washed bike and dried thoroughly before covering up tyres and brakes etc. Sprayed bike with xcp and used about half the can, quite thick waxoyl type product. Certainly looks like it will offer good protection and well tested by others. I really should have warmed the can before use on cold winter's day though as would have applied much more evenly with less used. I'll know for next time.

Prefer the clear coat
23 January 2023 by Adam H
Probably deserves five stars for protection but this version is just as HH hhhawkward to apply as acf50.
It's thick and won't come out of the sprayer unless you heat it up, even then it doesn't really spray finely unless really heated up hot. Comes out thick and runny and pools up looking like brown crap on the bike unless you remove the excess and buff it up but that method seems wasteful.
I'm sure there will be some better techniques for getting awesome results, but the aerosol clearcoat version is where it's at for me for ease of use and time to coat for an awesome finish

Great gear , gets in all the tight spaces , will have to see its rust beating capabilities in the future.

Great stuff

The can is better as it mists the xcp more. The pump bottle just jets it out. I always xcp my bikes, great great stuff if you ride all year round!

Great but Messy
07 May 2021 by George R
I bought XCP and ACF-50 at the same time to try them as they both had excellent reviews. For me the result is quite clear use ACF-50 on your bike and use XCP on your car. Nothing wrong with XCP but it's just like a soft wax, so it's a bit messy on your bike.
If however you were storing your bike for a long time then this would be the product to use.

An Extra Layer
02 April 2021 by Anonymous
A heavy duty protective layer that should be applied sparingly as it is pretty gloopy.
I found the surface attracted road dirt so suggest the bike is not used for 24 hrs. in order for the film to dry.
Consider using XCP clear as an alternative.
I think it's a worthwhile buy. Again, just don't be over exuberant when applying. Remove surplus from accessible surfaces.

Best of the bunch...

...according to that Bennets test. Much easier to apply well than ACF50, though it's more oily. Like someone who steals scooters, it arrived without a lid but the straw was there and I just put one of the many one acquires over the years on it.

Great product.
10 March 2021 by Richard P
Great product for protecting underside of engine, swingarm, lower frame and places that are hard to clean or don't get cleaned that often.
I have also used it on wheel rims and spokes before the onset of Winter, applying carefully with a small paint brush and allowing to dry before use.
I found that the 'road crud' does tend to stick to it which doesn't look great but it is easily removed with WD40 leaving a totally protected surface underneath.

Seems good so far

Oh dear. Gagging to get out on the bike on a nice sunny day and ended up behind a gritting lorry. Bike immediately started to melt :-(. Spent the rest of the day in the shed cleaning, drying and applying the XCP which seems to have protected it - it's quite thick to apply and the 'spray' is really just gobbing blobs of it in a very inexact fashion but have a rag handy and you can get a good even layer over everything before it dries. It dries to a soft, waxy film which is fine for me. Now using it on all my gardening tools too!

Have no complaints, seems to be working really well. Changed to this after watching the Bennets insurance test on Youtube. Would recommend

Good but greasy
31 December 2020 by Russell
I bought this instead of ACF50 having seen XCP outperform its competitors in the tests posted online. It is easy to apply and gives good coverage. It may be my technique but I found it left quite a thick greasy residue on the bike. It does say that you can buff it. I see that a clear coat version has been produced which I imagine solves this but will require more frequent application.

XCP Better coverage than ACF50
15 December 2020 by Brian P
Purchased this in aerosol can as it was tested in RIDE magazine as being the best rust blocker out there.
first impression was that it atomises better from the nozzle and gives a much more even coverage without spitting blobs like ACF50 does. Engine exterior didn't let off smoke on starting either.

Protecting the bike over winter

Looking for a good product to protect the bike over winter and this came up top in a number of tests, easy to apply thin coating so should last well into next season, great service and prompt delivery

XCP-ACF50 - Not sure yet
08 November 2020 by Carbuilder
First time using XCP rather than ACF50. It does show up more, you can see it. It appears to work, but I've only had one run out and it was damp rather than wet. I'll wait until the new year (or a bit longer now) to see if it works as well as ACF50

XCP Virgin
15 October 2020 by Richard P
Trying XCP for the 1st time, I have always used ACF50 and Scotoiler FS365 so thought I would give this a go on my Triumph wheel rims and spokes, under the tank and other hidden spots..
What I do like is that if you leave this product on the bike for a couple days before riding it forms a dry film, a dull layer of visible protection.
Can't comment on anything else yet as haven't been out in the wet or salt yet.
Does not come with a spray so I had to adapt an FS365 spray top and its so thick it comes out as a gloopy jet, but good for hitting spots you can't get a paintbrush to.
As usual, great service from Sportsbikeshop.

Very good

XCP seems to be the ideal rust blocker. It's easy to apply and my motorcycle still looks great. You need to give it a wipe after spraying as it will pool and dry.
