Shido Lithium Motorcycle Battery - LTZ14S LION

My original battery was dying so needed a replacement. Performance of the battery itself is not something I can comment on other than it works. Huge bonus is the lightness, shaving off approx 3kg compared to standard gel batteries. Still to see how it handles cold winter starts

Shido battery is 1 kilo in weight and comes with spacers to pack out to the size of your previous battery. My oe battery in my Africa twin crf 1000 was dead in 2 years, so I looked for the most recent technologies incorporated in a bike battery.
Very low long discharge this is great if you don't have any electric where your bike is kept. Only down side is that you do need a charger that is compatible to lithium iode. No ordinary charger will work, it will fry the battery. But the good side is that its super light and powerful. Albeit a bit pricey but that's what you get for new designs but worth it in my opinion.

Many folk debate batteries and value. I needed a new one so decided to try a lithium one for the first time. The weight saving is amazing (1kg vs 4kg), it spins the engine over effortlessly (the CCA rating is a little conservative because LiFePO batteries have so little internal resistance). You can get a lead acid battery which will run the bike for half this price, but you make the value judgement individually. One thing folk should bear in mind is cold weather performance, LiFePO likes to be warmed by switching on ignition/lights for a short while when near freezing. If you use it in near zero conditions maybe a good lead acid would be a better choice, but I don't do this. Sportsbikeshop service is excellent in my experience.
