This was the first time purchasing a shoei helmet so I had a few questions, I emailed them to sports bike shop who got back to me the same and answered all my questions which lead me to getting the correct firmest first time. The helmet is comfortable and well made, the fact you get a pinlock included is also a bonus. I would highly recommend purchasing this helmet.
The quality of the helmet I bought is outstanding, I've always bought the GT air because I thought it was one of the best that shoei made which it is and excellent helmet but I was wrong. The x-spr pro is one fantastic very comfortable helmet and the designs that they do are unreal. I'd like to thank the sportsbikeshop for providing me with another great product, and shoei keep up the good work ??
55 and new helmet time thought I would treat myself to a decent helmet for once, loads of help from the folks at Sports bike shop Brum, and fast secure delivery to my house
I guess to some my title may sound a bit much, but the reality is, for me at least, purchasing a helmet feels like just about the most important thing you can do as a biker, especially if you plan to do track days or events. I don't have access to a sports bike shop at home, so made a special trip to the Milton Keynes branch to try this helmet on. It was worth every mile and bit of effort; the team could not do enough for me! We tried the preselected helmet and it needed a bit of customisation, maybe I have a parochial head! But this was all done effortlessly and because I was continuing my travels, they quickly arranged the delivery of the helmet to them first for final fitting and onward shipment to my home address. I then received really helpful updates on progress and the helmet actually arrived at my home the day before I got back. Perfect timing and an incredibly efficient and effective service. The helmet itself is just what I wanted, very comfortable, lightweight, no annoying wind noises and FIM approved, which makes signing on at events so much easier. Another 1st class Shoei product!
I bought the Escalate TC10 X-SPR to replace my very ageing Chris Vermeulen X-Spirit 3 replica. Same Shoei quality that you would expect and my life what a beautiful snug all round fit. Visor action and firm closing were excellent, yet to use all the vents in their full glory. A very big shout out to Iona at the Reading branch for being so attentive and suggesting a larger size cheek pad set to give a more comfortable fit. My first ride out was very impressive, snug, stable and no whistling at high speed. Thanks Iona, my wife and I enjoyed your company, smile and a few laughs. Big plus point too is that glasses fit in very snugly. Would highly recommended.
I already have a GT Air II, and I find this helmet much lighter and a lot quieter and I prefer the chin strap to the GT Air II version. I also like the choices of "chin curtain" or "chin spoiler" you get with it :)
I've also found the visor seems to be less prone to condensation.
Bought this to replace my Arai (that I dropped like a moron). I've had an RX7V and a HJC Rpha 70...this helmet makes them irrelevant. Immediately did a 2 day tour and the comfort made the Arai feel cheap...Visor is solid and the notches are perfect. Vents well, noisy without earplugs but so is every helmet to me! I must have a "Shoei head" because I've never been happier with a lid. Obviously try on before you buy as I went up a size from my usual small. I can't love on this helmet enough, and looks gorgeous with a tinted visor!
After my first helmet with the front vent cover coming off while riding, Sportsbikeshop replaced it with another new one. The helmet itself is a good fit and yesterday was the first time I'd used it, which was on track. No problems with misting, good visuality and easy opening of visor. Ventilation is very good at keeping the old head cool while riding hard. Highly recommended.
Moved to the X-SPR Pro after many years with the Schuberth SR1. The fit is great as is the air flow. Winter riding may need the chin deflector and vents closed. Inner padding comfortable. Sometimes find myself fumbling for the press stud on the strap next to the d ring. It's no worse than other helmets. The aero is great at low to mid speeds but I find the helmet trying to lift at medium to high speeds. Tucking in behind the fairing solves this . Might just be my hight (6'1") and the bike (S1000RR). Have a size L (59-60) and as mentioned before fit is the same if not better that the SR1. The visor is a little tricky to take off but once done the first few times it gets easier. Pinlock easy to install, have added dark smoke visor..
Bought X-SPR Pro to replace X-Spirit III model. Same size ordered and new model fits perfectly. Expensive yes, but immaculate build quality.
New visor easier to open/secure with a larger field of vision. Spectacles are more comfortable to wear I guess due to the new padding design which is a bonus.
At the time of writing I'll have to wait another few weeks to wear the X-SPR Pro whilst riding until the weather improves. But I'm sure the new helmet will be just as stable or better than the X-Spirit III was at speed on a naked bike.
Ordered Arai RX-7 Evo helmet at the same time to compare with Shoei. Unfortunately fit was not as good as the Shoei so bought the X-SPR Pro.
Great buying/returns process with Sportsbikeshop and have bought my helmets from them for years.

By the time a Shoei helmet leaves the factory in Ibaraki, Japan, it will have gone through at least 50 pairs of hands during its creation. Shoei prides itself on making helmets by hand, and that's one of the reasons why the brand is so highly regarded by motorcyclists all over the world. Shoei made its first motorcycle helmet back in 1960 and has been responsible for a host of world-firsts as it's become one of the world's foremost helmet manufacturers. It created its first helmet with a carbon-fibre shell as long ago as 1976 and can claim to be the first company to develop chin skirting, integrated visor mountings and controllable air intakes to keep riders cool. The range covers everything from sleek urban helmets through to the most advanced racing protection on the planet. Shoei's racing pedigree goes way back to the legendary era of two-stroke Grand Prix warriors like Wayne Gardner, Eddie Lawson and Wayne Rainey. The influence continues today with multiple world champion Marc Marquez wearing Shoei throughout his glory-filled career. When you see the Shoei badge, it's more than a brand. It is a stamp of premium quality.
