Lovely fit but has flaws
25 March 2025 by Peter H
This is now the second E2 I ve had (colour change) and I love the look for an adventure bike. Between the pinlock and visor you will get steamed up if you don t turn the pinlock pins so the arrows are facing the centre of the visor which make the pinlock tighter to the visor. The other problem which I haven t resolved yet is out in the rain on Sunday water leaks down the inside of the visor and I haven t been able to fix that yet ( it is a fault as it happens on both of them). Other than that it s damn near perfect ?
The E2 helmet in my experience is a great piece of kit. Having previously owned the Schuberth C3 Pro, the E2's flip-front, adjustable peak and combination of other useful features offers an ideal step-up for adventure touring. For those like myself who wear glasses for riding I found the comfort and fit to be excellent along with the enhanced visibility of a wider visor than the C3 plus the addition of a very effective factory-fitted pinlock. Although a tad heavier than the C3, I haven't found the additional weight to be that noticeable. The reviews from Sportsbikeshop provide an accurate and helpful assessment of the E2, including some criticism of sunshield fogging, which I have also experienced in winter riding at temperatures around 2 degrees C - a small deficit in an otherwise excellent lid. I bought mine online at a discounted price with delivery to the door the next day. All in all, excellent value and a 5 Star service from Sportsbikeshop.
Good upgrade from my HJC flip lid. Comfort is very good and noise / turbulence when riding is very good. Everything can be operated with one gloved hand, visor, sun visor clasp flip etc. I have a sena intercom system, and from what I've read and can see it will very difficult to use anything other than the helmet intergrated sc2 system which is a shame. It will mean using the intended partly pre installed coms system. I will probably buy this from sports bike shop as service is brilliant. Maybe there is a discount on this item too ? Overall very impressed. Wore for three hours and no signs of discomfort.
Complete cr*p bought this and the slightest bit of rain and it leaks inside of the visor then you can't see bugger all Sent it back for a replacement which sportsbike shop are good for and same thing but worse this time tried send it back for a refund and the helmet just got sent back to me it might be going in the bin now it's useless to me
Avoid this helmet. It will leave you dangerously blinded by fogging behind your pinlock and rain leaking in behind the visor.
I bought this at 30% off. Even at that discount it has not been good value. I utterly regret the purchase because:
The top of the visor leaked on the first helmet. SBS replaced the helmet for free. The second helmet did not leak until 34 days in and now it just won t seal in stock form no matter what I tried. Helmet not replaceable this time. Schuberth not acknowledging the problem.
The pinlock, though 120, is poorly shaped, with the pin lug in such a place that means the screen will warp and separate from the visor - 3 free replacements in 2 months have all failed within a week;
The visor vent is unexpectedly noisy when open and really needs to be open all the time - it's quieter if you remove the vent cover completely;
The corresponding sc2 comms is overpriced. Only bought because discounted too.
A few positives, drowned by the negatives:
Huge field of view;
Comms clarity;
Comfort;
Otherwise low noise;
Sun visor;
Chin curtain and neck pads seal;
Head ventilation you can really feel;
Peak easily removed;
Can be worn with goggles, the only way to guarantee clear vision.
Credit to sportsbikeshop for their impeccable customer service and patience but Schuberth have shipped a terribly flawed helmet I m currently stuck with. Ultimately I opted to modify and fix it myself. Pathetic for a helmet at this price point.
Bought as a replacement for aging E1. Same size, fits really well. Good feature of visor retuning to original position. Quiet helmet. Bought with the comms system but one of them didn't work. Not SBS problem. Returned both, all hassle free and new helmet and comms set back within a few days. Star knocked off for not working. Sound quality is very good, comms easy to set up when both are working.
I've owned 4 schuberth helmets before this one and it is by far the best yet,the comfort of this helmet is unreal,if you're looking for a high quality helmet I would definitely recommend a schuberth
Moved to the E2 for a better fit than my old C4 and have not been disappointed. Even higher quality and more comfortable lining than before, The peak is great at all speeds and provides protection from sun glare as I wanted. Shame the Comms is so expensive but it's an upgrade as it has the mesh function included now.
I have bought Schuberth for years on the basis of good features, fit and quality. On this model (based on the C5) the fit is a bit more rounded than before, so I had slight pressure on the forehead. It may have broken in with time, but I decided from the start to go for an ideal fit and I got the Long Head kit and put the thinner (7mm) back pad in. A good match for previous Schuberth's in this config. Having made the change it was comfortable from the get-go.
As for riding, it's similar to the old E1 it replaces and the operation is similar in most respects. The front beak is certainly better in terms of aerodynamics and at 6'0" I get no vibrations on a GS with the larger adventure screen. It's a quiet lid, but I always use earplugs anyway.
It's a good quality product with a comfortable plush lining and a high standard of finish. It looks an expensive lid! The optics are excellent with a Pinlock 120 and the drop-down sun visor is also very clear indeed. I know some might say the beak and sun-visor is excessive, but my commute takes me into the low sun. Combine the sun in your face with road dirt & spray on the visor and trying to look into the shadows under trees, then the beak is often better than dropping the visor down and losing visibility in shadows. Removing the beak takes seconds anyway and there are blanking plates. Apparently a C5 visor fits anyway - you just cannot use the beak with one.
As a repeat offender for Schuberth, I'm happy with it and just be aware the fit has moved slightly to the rounder as now more intermediate-oval than before.
I just upgraded my Schubert E1 helmet to Schubert E2 including the C2 communication system and this new helmet is a grate upgrade and playing music in this new system is like to be in a concert hall.
Excellent helmet, Lightweight, Comfortable and quiet. Only thing i have a grumble about is the peak positioning, even when in its highest position it cuts out a bit of vision, easily sorted by tilting your head a bit but i'd expect a helmet of this cost and calibre to not have to do that. Purchased the SC2 with this helmet and the ease of having plug and play with the already fitted main body was a joy, no more removing padding to thread wires through only to have to remove them after a short ride to reposition them because it wasn't comfortable enough.

The E2 is the second generation of Schuberth's adventure helmets and the second helmet of Schuberth's range featuring the P/J double homologation and meeting the ECE 22.06 standard. The E2 is the perfect mix between the comfort of the famous "C" series and the aggressive look and feel of an off-road helmet. The E2 also integrates all the latest Schuberth standards in terms of safety, aerodynamics and aeroacoustics performance.
Adjustable Peak
The Peak of the E2 has been developed in the Schuberth wind tunnel to minimize buffeting and vibrations. The E2 offers multiple configurations to the customers, indeed the peak is designed not only to be easily adjustable on 3 positions, but also to be removed easily.
It is always the little details that make the difference between a common helmet and a Schuberth. Introduced on the E1 peak, the memory function feature is obviously also included on the E2 visor and peak. With this function, whatever exact position is selected with the chin bar closed, will be maintained after opening, and closing the chin bar.
Chinbar Air Intake
To maintain comfort when travelling long distances off-road or on-road, ventilation and temperature control are key. The Schuberth E2 features a double chin air intake. The top vent prevents visor fogging while riding in cold conditions, while the lower vent ensures an additional airflow when riding in extreme warm conditions. Dust, mud, and insects are part of off-road adventures. To prevent those from entering the helmet, the chin vent features a washable and changeable filter.
Top Ventilation System
The E2 puts ventilation at another level. It features a two position adjustable top vent as well as a new enlarged spoiler including an air extractor to ensure an excellent airflow when riding in the most challenging conditions.
Schuberth Individual Program
The inner linings of the Schuberth E2 set a new benchmark in terms of comfort. The standard head pad has been developed to offer uncompromised comfort to all customers, but those with "extreme head shapes" are usually forced to compromise with fit and sizes. For Schuberth, compromise is not an option, so the E2 is also part of the Schuberth Individual Program, which offers the possibility to customize the internal padding with more thickness options for sides, back and cheek pads. (Head Pad customization available for sizes M/L/XL).
Safety First
At Schuberth safety is at the heart of every product. The E2 features the P/J double homologation and meets the ECE-R 22.06 standards. The shell of the E2 is made of Fibreglass with Schuberth's patented Direct Fibre Processing Technology and reinforced with Carbon fibre for improved shock absorption and lighter weight.
Just like the whole Schuberth collection, the E2 benefits of the Anti-Roll-Off-System connected with a chin strap in a new advanced position for improved comfort on the throat area.
Intercom System
The most advanced technology just for your Schuberth E2. Extremely easy to install, to configure and use, SC2 sets a new standard for motorcycle communication. The HD speakers and three antennas for FM Radio, Bluetooth Intercom and Mesh Intercom are already pre-installed in the E2. The SC2 is extremely simple to install: Plug in the HD BOOM microphone, remove the covers at the back of the helmet, free the remote control housing on the side, plug both in, turn them on, and you are ready to ride!
Mesh 2.0
Thanks to the Mesh 2.0 technology, the Schuberth SC2 delivers an unparalleled level of intercom connections, redefining the concept of "communication network". With Mesh 2.0 technology, now it is possible to connect with a virtually limitless number of participants. In addition, Schuberth's system offers the latest HD speakers and Microphone by Sena, the advanced noise Control, the digital assistant and a range comparable to the most performing products available on the market.
Schuberth motorcycle helmets are, and always have been, developed and manufactured using a quality oriented approach. Since the late 1970's, Schuberth have specialised exclusively in the production of head protection technology, cementing their position today as THE motorcycle helmet specialist. As well as motorbike helmets, Schuberth also design and manufacture helmets for the police, fire service, military and other areas of motorsport, most famously for use in Formula 1. The fact that Michael Schumacher has chosen to work with the brand for so long speaks volumes about its pedigree, and the company's commitment to the development of helmet technology. This commitment is made further apparent by the fact that Schuberth are the only bike helmet manufacturer in the world with their own acoustic and wind tunnels. Via their base in Magdeburg, Schuberth are, quite rightly, proud to promote their "made in Germany" message and now export motorbike helmets to more than 50 different countries throughout the world.
