Unbearable Vibrations

Disappointed Unwearable in Real-World Use

After years of using flip-front helmets (currently two Shoei Neotec 3s), I decided to try something more adventure-styled with a peak. I went for the Nexx X.WED3 Trailmania Light Sand. The colour scheme looked great, the reviews were mostly positive, and at 25% off it felt like a good deal.

I wore it for the first time on a 1,500-mile, 5-day trip around Scotland in March, riding a 2024 Africa Twin Adventure with the screen at its highest setting. Within 10 minutes of setting off, the vibrations from the peak at just 50mph were so severe I considered turning around to swap helmets. I lowered the peak to its lowest setting no improvement.

On the M6, the vibrations at motorway speeds were so bad they blurred my vision. I pulled into the first services, removed the peak (tool-free), and carried on. Without the peak, the helmet was much quieter and more stable, but new issues cropped up.

With the visor open, vibrations returned this time coming through the visor s swivel/fixing mechanism, right next to my ears. It was distracting and irritating. I ended up riding most of the trip with the visor one click open just to manage it.

On returning home, I discovered one of the plastic peak screws removed and screwed back into the lid for safekeeping had sheared off. I can t remove it or reattach the peak. The screw quality is poor, and overall the helmet feels delicate compared to others in this price range.

I wanted to like this helmet, but it s substandard and, for me, unwearable. Based on this experience, I d recommend steering clear.

Horrible build quality

I've owned this helmet for a little over 2 weeks and It's already falling apart, The locking mechanisms for the cheek padding is broke, resulting in padding coming loose while riding. when I remove the helmet the cheeks come out too. Overall It is a pretty awful helmet and Nexx customer service is pretty poor too. Would not recommend

Really good helmet

I really like this helmet. It's comfortable, it fits well, I don't get much wind noise on the peak up to 110mph. I got the Xcom3 pro with it aswell, which was a breeze to fit. The camera mounts with it were a welcomed bonus too.

Well thought out lid

Really comfortable and well thought out lid, I like the options available for camera mounts and adjustment on the peak etc... the only one issue I have found is that the strap is very narrow and I find it twists easily when fastening without you noticing until you clip the remaining strap up and can't, but fiddly compared to all the other double d ring helmets I've had in the past.

Great lid and a bargain

This lid fits me really well, it's a good upgrade on the xwed 2.
There's loads of features.
I got this helmet on discount which made it a bargain.
I tried the integrated comms but that doesn't allow you to choose between the speakers or your own ear buds so I bought the Sena R which stuck on the side well and looks ok. All in all another great buy from sbs. Do I need to mention their great service??!

Fits well and sizing as expect, as I struggle to get ones big enough and not all XXL are the same size.

Also great service from Sportsbikeshop.

Very good so far, lots of features which makes it versatile and not too noisy on the motorway. The only small issue is opening the visor with the GoPro mount on, takes getting used to it.

Best Adventure Helmet Out There

A great fit and a great spec. So many unique features - intercom ports, perforated spaces for earphones, rubber edge protection, goggles strap, sun visor, adjustable peak, camera mounts - the list goes on.

Feels good and comes with plenty of accessories and options. The pinlock is a blessing especially in the weather we've had. With the peak on, it is a bit noisy but could be from the bike screen.

Amazing Helmet

Lightweight compared to my old Scorpion Helmet.
Wore it while touring the UK and had no issues. Love how it comes with loads of accessories, especially the helmet camera mounts. At the end of July 2024 Nexx will also be supplying the screws so you can attach your go pro all at no extra charge. Thought of everything on this helmet so I'm very impressed.
