HJC F31 - Matt Sand / Beige

The helmet has good looks and the intercom fits brilliantly and unlike other helmets there is no pressure on your ears as the speaker sockets are really deep. I was however somewhat surprised by how noisy the helmet is. I’ve always ridden with an open face helmet so I am naturally aware the they are noisier than a full face but this is the noisiest I’ve ever had. Ear plugs need to be worn.

Firstly, I bought this helmet when back in the UK recently but I live in a country where you never ride over 30-35mph on your scooter so obviously not the most well rounded review.

HJC have clearly tried with this helmet and in some ways it's great. Looks good, feels comfortable.

First dislike is the clasp adjustment. I know theres a shift away from double D-ring in the helmet market but it just creates unnecessary problems. I have to have the clasp adjusted so tight on this helmet that the 2 pads that protect your neck from the clasp overlap and can become uncomfortable.

Also - when the visor is in the open position, which for me it often is, it whistles like crazy. I did some experiments to see if it was something else but it definitely seems to be the visor. Bear in mind I'm pootling around at around 30mph and it was loud enough for me to take the visor off completely and run it without. Again, something I can get away with now, but if I was off on a European tour, not so much.
