HJC i91 - Carst Red

Found this lid to be excellent so far, not too heavy and fitting snugly while going on fine over my pretty thick rimmed glasses. Included pinlock is essential, I struggled a bit with glasses steaming without it. All the moveable parts seem solid and should stand up to plenty of use. Size wise this model is very slightly bigger than average. Most 2xl's dont fit me but this one is just right.

Excellent helmet at unbelievable discounted price , cheapest I could find. This is a very well designed helmet , true to size and comfortable complete with pinlock visor. Ordered Saturday afternoon, delivered Sunday morning.
Excellent all round service

As it's winter I've not been out to road test yet. But, I got fitted in the shop, great help getting a perfect fit. First flip front modular helmet and it's very well designed, engineered and finished. Easy to use as the buttons/mechanisms for release are well situated on both internal and external visors. Flip up is simple. Overall very comfortable, good vision and very smart design. Pleased with my purchase.

Had a crash in my old i90 and walked away with a couple of minor fractures. No doubt at all that the helmet saved my life!
Bought this one as a replacement and it is just as comfortable and, I hope, offers the same amount of protection as my old one!

I got this helmet ro relace my old F70 that was returned on warranty.
It's the first flip face helmet I have managed to find that doesn't contact me chin... and I haven't exactly got a big one.
Fit and feel is the same as any HJC.
Some reviews say this is heavy but I would not say it is noticeably so.
Other reviews criticise the visor for being loose, but I am satisfied the manufacturers have sorted this, I have no issue at all.
The noise is curious. In the turbulence that's created by the screen on my bike (my versys is a tw@t for turbulence), it is a bit louder than my old F70 but in clear air it's really quiet - with the exception of a gentle whistle.
Fitting universal bluetooth is difficult because it's so specifically designed for the address on kit... although I left my mic off because it's I'm the way of the chinbar air curtain.

One thing I did notice is how the chin bar acts as a magnet for condensation... dripping in your eyes when you lift the flip front up

The quality isn't anywhere near that of my old F70 or the IS17 before that, some of it is really plasticcy and cheap feeling.

Does the job, and it's great having the flip front. But the quality isn't am used to from hjc isn't in this helmet.

Most important is that it doesn't mess with my glasses.

Went from a Shark to this and I've previously had good experiences with HJC. Fit on a small is too small, fit on a medium was like a bucket, so I'm hoping that it will stretch a bit.

Can easily do up to 30-35mph with the front open, which is great in the city. Chin flap knocks the mic from the headset every time I close it which is a bit annoying. Soundproofing is good, vents are very good and there's minimal buffeting at high speed.

Visor struggles to be anything other than fully open / fully closed which might be a quirk of this particular helmet.

Designed to go with the HJC headset, so my Sena unit had to be positioned sub-optimally, so please bear that in mind before buying.

Getting happier with it the more miles I do.

Got the price match on this one so got a quality product at a superb price. Helmet fit is comfortable but not too tight. Flip top is accessible and very easy to use. Pinlock install and visor removal very simple. Lovely carrying bag.

This is my first helmet so I haven't got anything to compare against but I find it a very comfortable fit with a good field of vision and it seems relatively quiet. Easy to get glasses on and off with the flip front which was my main reason for buying. I have a 57cm head and the medium size is a great fit.

Nice helmet but wind noise detracts from its comfort. Increased noise at anything greater than 30mph. Earplugs are a must

Unexpected purchase and surprised me with its quality and noise reduction. In some cases, I'd say it's better than my Shoei Neotec 2.

A great helmet. Purchased for my wife for a 3 week tour in Europe as pillion on my bike.

I purchased the matching HJC intercom at the same time saving the VAT on the price when purchased with the helmet.

My wife said that the helmet was quiet and extremely comfortable.

Temperatures ranged from 30 degrees in the Italian dolomites, down to 5 degrees on some mountain passes in Switzerland.

The flip lid, air vents, and sun visor made it comfortable in all conditions.

Superb helmet for the price

The intercom paired flawlessly with my Shoe Netotec Sena intercom.

This is my first flip-front helmet and I thought I would try a medium price helmet first just to see if I liked it.

And I do - it's very practical for day to day use and so far it's very comfortable for around 2-3 hours at a time. The quality and finish is very good though it's certainly not say the premium finish of a helmet twice the price as you might expect.

The flip open mechanism is easy to use, the sun visor is great and the peripheral vision is wide and clear. Also the vents are probably the best I've used. As a glasses wearer it's also very easy to put / take specs off and the arms don't crush your ears like some helmets.

Downsides are that it's a little heavier than I'm used to which is probably down to the flip-up mechanism and with the front up you can feel the shell flexing a little - but I have no intention of ever riding it flipped-up even if it's certified for that. It's also quite noisy.

Overall you get a lot of features for the price, it's well made and looks good.

Love this helmet, so much easier being a flip up helmet and the pin lock insert helps with steaming up. As a glasses wearer I can put them on easier with the grooves in the foam. You can have the visor open just a little and it won't close on its own.
