Verified Customer Reviews for Givi TAN01 Jerry Can
Our customers say…
This fuel/water can is highly valued by customers for its practicality during bike tours and emergencies. It fits conveniently in various storage options and provides sufficient fuel to alleviate range anxiety. Most customers praise its robust build and compact size but note the high cost of the bracket. The spout has been improved in newer versions, addressing past issues of rigidity and spills. Some customers suggest checking for potential leaks before use and express a desire for better nozzle storage solutions.

Good size

Great size to get you out of trouble, I ratchet strapped this to my pillion seat rest on a recent trip just incase I couldn't find a fuel station, the only thing that would make it better is if you could lock the lid on so it would be tamper proof.

Even better than the pic in the ad
06 November 2023 by GHOB
Not my first review of these. Had one for about 6 years which goes in my topbox when touring on the BMW (I refuse to pay for the pannier mount). Also gets used on small bikes with tiny tanks, on a spine mount on C90 and Honda Wave, lately for a Honda Navi which has a luggage box under the tank, you can get 2 in that.
Pity there is no ability to post pics.
The last 3 purchased were from Sportsbikeshop, the pic shown in the ad has the original, very stiff spout which looks as though it bends but doesn't. This ensured (until it was cut down) that you spilt a good amount when using. Happily the new ones have a proper flexible spout that you can get into the tank before starting to pour.

Great size for piece of mind
14 September 2023 by Corey H
I bought this fuel/water can after a guided ride that took longer than us usual. I was on fumes by the time I found a petrol station. Although I was in the Scottish Borders and not the Himalayas the feeling of anxiety was still there. 2.5 litre is enough to get you to most fuel stops within the UK and it's not too big as to fit in a pannier or soft luggage. I'm using mine in a Kriega bottle holder to avoid any mishaps. Maybe SBS could procure water tight bags to fit this product so it could be safely squirrelled away in your luggage with fear of you smelling like a truck mechanic for the duration.

Excellent piece of kit. Ideal for carrying spare fuel. Would benefit from better storage of the nozzle.

A nice little fuel tank ie reasonable value, it would be nice if the holder was a lower price. Not sure it would retain the fuel in a crash if mounted on the side of a bike.

Ideal size

I've had one of these for a few years, it gets strapped to a spine rack on a small Honda mostly but is also small enough to fit in a top box when touring on my BMW. The spout was too long and rigid on my first one, the ones now supplied are more flexible and easier to use.

Very handy
22 June 2023 by Daniel L
Very handy can, definitely worth carrying if your going off the beaten track. Handy for lawn mowers/strimmers too. Wouldn't get the bracket as this is mighty expensive for what it is, just strap it down. Only negative is the funnel doesn't stow away it's just loose

Good value , great price just a pity the holder / frame accessory is so expensive. Will use ratchet type straps to secure instead.

Absolutely great thing to carry on the euro tours, along with a hand syphon.
No anxiety over being stranded due to the size of my tank.
a must have :-)

Fuel Anxiety solved
18 September 2020 by Spencer
Clearly this 2.5 litre container was designed to be externally secured to specific types of motorcycle luggage to reduce fuel anxiety. I have a Rocket 3 GT which only has a range of approx. 140 miles. To secure this container to the bike you either need the Givi securing bracket (expensive for what it is) or make your own as I did.

A little expensive for a small plastic can.. I would however recommend it. Very handy size and it feels well made and does not leak.
