Verified Customer Reviews for Givi E135 Brakelight Kit
The Givi E135 Brake Light Kit receives high praise for its quality and design, enhancing visibility effectively. Customers commend its bright LEDs and appreciate the added safety. However, they criticize the vague instructions and delicate screws, which present installation challenges. Some encountered wiring compatibility issues and a need for minor modifications. Despite these drawbacks, the kit is generally deemed worthwhile, delivering an impressive factory-like fit and crucial night-time visibility. Customers also highlight excellent customer service, resolving issues swiftly and efficiently.
Brilliant bit kit, fitted it very easily, not used the blue scotch locks, I used positaps. Instructions good and simple to follow, LEDs nice and bright, connected to my brake light modulator fantastic can recommend them.
Really quick delivery and response to any queries I had. Could of done with better fitting instructions though.
Pretty straightforward fit although I have watched a couple of videos online. The results are easy to appreciate and be seen or be missed once again prove the point. LED's are very bright when I press the brake levers. SBS delivered the package promptly.
Great lights, drilled the two small holes for the cable to go through the lid, nicely premarked by Givi, knocked the two blanks out inn the base of the box and the rack, only issue was finding the right wires to connect to but other than that easy job, love it
Requires drilling a hole in the bottom of the box and in your associated base plate. Took me around 30mins to fit. Nice bright lights, if you're getting the top box, get the lights - simple. Be safe, be seen, stay alive. Worth every penny.
I've read reviews on this site and others regarding how bright the lights are. In my opinion, they are bright enough for good visibility at night and I'd recommend this to anyone who has the GIVI top box's.
Really good
The lights in this kit work well once fitted and I'm sure they'll add to my visibility to others from behind.
But the kit is let down by a couple of poor points which let it down. 1 The instructions are not that great, so if you're not confident with working out how it goes you might want to get a mate to help. 2 The screws are really fine as are the plastic tangs? that the screws go into. So there's a real danger that you could over tighten them and strip the thread or snap the tang off. 3rd and last the wires for the actual leds are the same length, but come into the box on one side. This means that there's slack on one light and the other has to be stretched like a piano string to reach if you don't correct the lengths.
So great idea.. poorly executed.
An extra bit of visibility at night is always welcome. Pretty straight forward to fit even if the instructions are a little vague in places. Luckily I had a 12v outlet from an old back box light on my bike so didn't have to worry about getting it wired into the brake light.
Quality parts, perfect fit. However for best results you need to be more of an engineer than a fitter. I modified mine such that it works as 'stop/tail' .
Very pleased, great value.
The idea is great. All the parts are cheap, it works on a contact system so you can remove the box without the need to unclip wires. This don't work as the contact needs a former connection than the set up allows you. People don't waste your money as you will have to retro fit this if you plan for it to actually work, also it's not a brake light it's a solid light.
The Givi E135 Brake Light Kit is a typical Givi product - reasonably pricey, but of surprisingly high quality, with unsurprisingly crap instructions!
No matter - as with all their products, it doesn't take a huge amount of head scratching to suss out what's what.
There was, however, an issue that even Givi themselves (and as such also Sportsbikeshop) were unaware of.
The box for the E135 was marked 'Not suitable for M8 Aluminium Plate' or something to that effect - the M8 being the plate I purchased (the E135 is suggested as an add-on for the M8 everywhere online).
It transpired that the M8 is not compatible as it does not have a hole in it to install the necessary set of contacts for the E135. This is something Givi UK were not aware of and I'm told are amending their advertising to suit.
Sally, the absolutely wonderful customer support agent for Sportsbikeshop, simply could not have provided a better service. Having been the one to originally confirm the plate was unsuitable, in no time at all she had me up and running with a suitable plate (M7) and refunded the difference plus postage. How refreshing to deal with someone who's so quick to respond, efficient yet not robotic, and a bit of a laugh to boot! Cannot stress enough, 5* service!
Having efficiently fitted the kit I can say it's a worthwhile upgrade to the topbox and gives added piece of mind. It's stylish, neat and the LEDs are bright. Just be sure to match polarity for the contacts all the way along the line, plus tapping in to the correct 2 of the 3 wires going to your bike's rear light can take some trial and error.
Easy to fit, looks great and really well made. I fitted the brake light kit too which works well, looks good and gives that extra peace of mind when braking. The instructions for the box fit are easy to follow. The wiring of the brake lights requires a bit of patience. With some trial and error (no harm done) I found the appropriate connections under the saddle. There are double sprung (little pistons) connectors between the lid and box to allow opening and connection on closing and on the underside of the box connecting to the rack. At first it wouldn't work and having checked carefully I found that a 'wiggle' of the box on the rack made the connection and its all good. I'm really pleased with it. This is all very well made and just fits perfectly.
Easy to fit and works perfectly.
Lights are highly visible..They come on slightly before main cluster..is this normal?
Instructions aren't to hard to follow, everything fits nice and tidy, lights work really well. Give me confidence in the night when braking.
As mentioned previously, the kit appears expensive when you first open the box, but you will soon find that the kit is smart and has thoughtful design, and is well worth it.
Fitment is straightforward, the only snag was that the wire splicing connectors provided were ostensibly for a bigger gauge wire than fitted to my bike. This is easily resolved by pre-stripping the wire, ensuring a clean contact.
Also, in my experience, a hammer wasn't necessary for the box, the blank could be squeezed out by hand, while the mounting rack required some more effort. However, it is not difficult to do. The wiring is very easy - do not be put off by it.
I think the extra lights look like a factory fitment (which they almost are) and I appreciate the extra lighting when braking in fast moving traffic.
A good quality product making my bike look smart.

My V47 box is fitted directly to a steel plate (not manufactured by Givi). Will I be able to fit the male connector to the plate?
December 12, 2017Unfortunately as you have not got a Givi plate we are not able to advise with any authority, but the kit is not recommended for use with a metal Givi plate as it needs to be drilled for the connector and the plate is not deep enough.
