Verified Customer Reviews for Givi PLR5108 Tubular Pannier Holders
Fits 2023 BMW R1250GS adventure
14 September 2024 by Robert T
The brackets themselves are great once you get them on. Like others have remarked the instructions and labelling are pretty poor. All they need is some stick labels for left or right front and back which would save time and effort. I had a missing part from the kit, which was quickly sorted by Sports bike shop. In operation they are rock solid and there is no movement on the TRK Trekkers I have fitted. I put the matching top case converter on too. A cheap way of reusing existing luggage on the BMW.

Fits the BMW R1200GS (2014) perfectly...but
26 July 2024 by Mark G
These frames are excellent but Givi really should put a little more effort into their instructions. There is no mention that you may need to add spacers to the frames if you are using certain panniers. There is no mention whether to remove the original plastic inserts or not. There are no markings on the brackets (which are very similar and easy to mix up from left to right), As others have said you don't need to touch the indicators and this can be fitted using all the original BMW bolts if you wish, and just add some of the washers and spacers from the pack.

Suitable for BMW R1250 GS
22 February 2024 by Michael H
I can confirm that these are suitable for BMW R 1250 GS as I have just fitted them to my 2023 bike without any issues. Fairly straightforward to fit took about 2 hours most difficult part was removing rear foot pegs which were fitted with thread lock and tricky to loosen bolts which required Torx 50 bit. Once fitted the frame can be removed in a minute using tool supplied when not in use leaving a clean look. Usual great next day delivery from sportsbikeshop.co.uk - really pleased.

These pannier racks are ideal, easy to install but even easier to put them on and off the bike when needed or not needed.

Easy to fit....

Simple to fit, despite the usual givi quality instructions.
Followed a previous review and used the original footpeg bolts on both sides and they fit just fine.

Buyer beware!
13 February 2021 by Richard
I bought these for my 2019 R1250GS along with some Alaska Panniers. I liked the idea of removeable frames.
Firstly, the instructions are very poor.
Secondly, if you fit these with the top-opening Alaska panniers, don't expect to actually be able to open the left pannier! The frame is so close to the bike that the pannier lid hits the BMW grab rail. A poor design - in my opinion.
Givi Customer Service were heavy on politeness and light on actual help.
And of course, this defect is not discovered until the frames are fitted, so they cannot be returned.
The review is not a negative reflection on SBS, but is intended as a "beware" for any prospective buyers of this product.

Easy fit to 1250 GS Adventure
12 January 2021 by Simon O
I checked on the Givi website to confirm this also fitted my new 1250 GSA...which it does. It really was a piece of cake to fit. Including the removal of the genuine BMW pannier rails and replacing them with the Givi system took less than an hour...and you don't have to relocate the indicators as the instructions suggest. Great quick service from SBS as usual.

Just what i needed
03 September 2020 by Sheldon B
Bought for my 1200GS - 2017 and fit like a glove.
Easy to install although the instructions are next to useless, i held the frames to the bike and it was obvious what i needed to do.
Pillion footrests off, one side is simple 2 torx screws, the other side needs the exhaust removing which is easier than it sounds to fit bracket on both sides between footrest and bike frame then replace with longer provided screws.
The small brackets fit in the existing BMW provided pannier spaces.
The whole process took about 30 mins, which was good for me because it was raining too!
Once done, the frames fit on and off the bike with the provided key very quickly, excellent stuff.
Only gripe was the allen keys provided would have been better as torx screws the same as what was on the bike, the first one I tightened started to round off.
I was tempted to put the original ones back, but not sure if they would be long enough.
Happy with the end result though, look good and rigid, now I can take them off during the week while I am commuting.

Pleasantly surprised!
24 April 2020 by Ian C
I bought these pannier holders as I wanted to mount Givi TRK monkey panniers so needed to change the BMW standard set up on my 2016 GS Adventure.
The holders come in a Matt black finish which I prefer to the cheap looking silver painted BMW holders, they also are quick release which means I don't have to lug around the frames whilst just using my bike to commute.
Fairly easy to fit but instructions could be made clearer in my opinion and didn't have to move the rear indicators, although brackets are supplied if needed.
Panniers attach and detach better than any I have used over nearly 40 years of biking and feel very sturdy.
Givi claim that the frame can be taken off in a minute, In reality you can do it in about 20 seconds. Great product! And again great service from Sportsbikeshop.

Fits perfect on my R1200GS LC
19 August 2019 by Kinzie M
Fits perfect on my 2015 R1200GS LC TE with no need to move rear indicator lights as suggested. Have given this a 4 out of 5 because the fitting instructions are probably the worst I've ever seen.

Sit very tight to the bike
07 February 2017 by John C
I opted to ditch the OE pannier system from my R1200 GSA and fit the Givi quick release pannier holders. They are made from substantial sections of steel with a good corrosion protection. The only instructions consist of just diagrams and when it comes to fixing the 4 main brackets to the top frame it is not easy to work out which goes where as they are handed and different front to rear, however a little trial and error soon finds the correct location. Once mounted they are VERY SECURE. They also sit very tight to the bike which helps to reduce the overall width when the panniers are fitted. The quick release system works a treat, and I bought a pair of 6mm Yale padlocks to ensure light-fingered scum don't try to make off with my frames. I did find one VERY IMPORTANT PROBLEM, the fixings (shown as number 9 in the instructions) that secure the lower mounts through the footrest hanger into the frame were too long, and bottomed out against the frame before they were tight, if you were not careful to notice you could strip the threads in your frame which would then require drilling and helecoiling. I reused the OE fixings as they were plenty long enough. Sadly there is no facility to upload a picture to illustrate this issue, or to show just how neat the holders look on the bike.
