Top box arms

Purpose made arms for a z1000sx to enable you to fit a top plate for a top box. Quality of finish is ok but only time will tell how long they last before they start to look tired. The instructions are the usual pictures only so not great as they fail to mention you will need to disconnect the wiring from the indicators and number plate light to feed it through the bracket. This is fiddly as the wiring is hard to get to between the under tray and rear seat subframe. Apart from that they do what they should.

Bought this to replace the side panniers that came with the bike to allow pillion passengers to lean back on. The construction/engineering of the product is well made and relatively easy to put together once the main bracket is fitted. As previous reviews have mentioned, don't be fooled by the simple diagram that comes with this product. In order to get the main bracket on involved removing (and dismantling) the number plate assembly, disconnecting the tail lights/indicators and dismantling parts of the seating area. All to feed everything through the box bracket and screw back together again. Once all the bit and pieces are assembled it does feel a solid bit of kit, but again be aware of the extra work that can be involved to fit it. Apart from that, very happy.

A well engineered product and a perfect fit. The exploded fitting diagram is simple but doesn't indicate how to disassemble the rear wheel arch and number plate assembly. To fit box shaped bracket under seat it is necessary to release the wheel arch by undoing an additional security set screw under seat to help access two self tapping screws which hold the number plate assembly then disconnect three wiring connectors near battery. It took about 1 1/2 hrs to fit. The local Kawasaki dealer was helpful in advising me these instructions before I started.

The instructions were a let down, as did not explain on diagram, that you had to dismantle body parts which was a bit of a let down. Only one person on Youtube showed this, but not the full description. But overall, it is a must as now I know my wife is a lot safer on the back.

Will the arms sit above the grab handles. So they can be used instead of the grab handles.
June 7, 2018The Givi Monorack Arms are secured in the same location as the motorcycle's OEM grab rails, but the arms are positioned slightly lower than the grab rails. Please judge using the arms as grab rails at your own discretion.
