I've run Optimates on all my bikes since they first arrived on the scene. In all that time I've never had one fail. The battery in my ZX10R was 14 years old and still sound when I sold the bike.
As soon as my bikes are parked in the garage, they are on an Optimate.
Just added a harley 48 to my collection and needed this to match to connector on the bike rather than change over the tails. This is at a price point that made it a bargain. Idiot proof and simple readouts on optimate and I know from experience they are reliable, had the item in two days as well

As good as expected
brought this to replace old charger that would never show fully charge state. TecMate OptiMate 2 all connected up easily and on first cycle indicated battery good and charged. (my old charger was 20 years old optimate) great service from SBS. 10/10
Bought this item at the best available price from Sportsbikeshop. Arrived a few days later and had minimal effort setting up to keep my Ninja 1000sx battery topped up over the winter months. Especially liked the perminant leads supplied. Great bit of kit for the price.

I bought this to replace an Oxford unit that failed quite dramatically (sparks and crackles!)
Quality wise it's in a different league to the Oxford unit, with thicker cabling and leads, chunky terminals, superior fuse assembly and an overall higher build quality.
Simple to set up and use. My last Optimate unit worked for over twenty years, my guess is this one will last too.
Superb back up from Sportsbikeshop with the burnt out Oxford unit replaced under warranty.

Simple and easy to use charger with great quality cables and connectors. Permanent fused battery connector fits both M6 and M8 bolts and also comes with good quality crocodile clip connectors as well. Does the job well and can't fault it. First class service from Sportsbikeshop as ever.
Hooked it up to the wall outside as the bike is kept outdoors undercover and so far all works perfect. Manual says it's for indoor use only but since it has waterproof case I'm taking chances it will work fine with Irish weather. So far there was a good bit of rain and it works as intended. Decent price too, so good choice if you don't want to spend too much money but need something to keep the battery working all year round and especially during the winter when you don't ride that often

January 3, 2020The Optimate 2 would be suitable. The charger has a waterproof eyelet lead that affixes to the battery and can be routed for easy plug in.

February 21, 2019This will be fine to use on your Kawasaki. You will have to disconnect the battery to fit the battery connection lead, unless you use the supplied crocodile clips.
How do you determine the maximum charge level?
February 11, 2019For a battery that appears healthy the voltage is limited at 13.6V for 30 minutes while the circuit monitors the actual voltage and the current absorbed by the battery, during which the green maintain LED remains on. If during the 30 minutes the automatic circuit senses the battery requires further charging, the program reverts to bulk charge infrequently until a full charge is achieved.
