I bought this jacket after returning the Oxford Mondial Advanced Textile Jacket - Tech Black. The Oxford was a great quality jacket, living up to all it's positive reviews, but the sleeves were too long for me. After speaking with one of the incredibly helpful staff at sportsbikeshop.co.uk I was advised that Alpinestars were a more tailored fit and decided to try the Distance Drystar even though, at the time, it hadn't been reviewed.
Not something normally said about bike gear, but this jacket fits me perfectly. I'm 5'7" with a 40" chest, 30" waist and weigh 11 stone. I bought a medium and the adjusters on the waist, upper and lower arms make it easy to tailor it to your shape. The neck is slightly on the low side but I prefer that. There are plenty of pockets and it all feels really good quality. None of the zips get snagged like one did on the Oxford.
The jacket is light weight but feels sturdy and is certainly warm enough for riding in temperatures of 12 - 14 degrees without the thermal liner and with just a tee shirt under.
Can't comment on the waterproof qualities as I haven't ridden it in proper rain yet but I'm sure the laminate construction will be fine.
Sorry for the rambling review but I am SO happy with this jacket especially as it came in a couple of quid less than the Oxford.
