Merlin Elmhurst Outlast Wax Textile Jacket - Navy Blue

First thing to mention is I had a couple of issues with a Merlin jacket ordered via sportsbikeshop, but as always this was quickly remedied.

The jacket....

This is one seriously good looking jacket.
Its particularly well fitted if you put some d30 in it and take out the bulky existing armour.
Its light and comfy, not restrictive at all and very warm.
I tried a few merlin jackets on and I'd say most have a slightly too 'belstaff' look for me, but this one straddled the line of modern and vintage really well.
I'll grab one of the newer, higher rated jackets when they recieve a price drop for sure.
Size wise they do fit to size. Althougb if you are tall prepare to go for the slightly larger option to get the length in the sleaves. I'm 6ft3 and have a 33 inch waist. The large fits great. Medium is plausible without the liner and maybe only a tshirt on underneath, but as I got this as a winter jacket, large it was. It doesn't look too big at all though.
It may be a rad warm in the height of the summer, but thats not too much of a concern.
The fabric feels very strong but im aware its only A rated. Having felt the new AA rated fabric too, this is surprising as the new stuff is much thinner feeling... But I guess it must be true! Although with full armour in it I think your pretty well covered for normal riding.
I do prefer some of the finishes on this older jacket than the newer ones, notably the wrist zips.
